She was so freaking adorable in that role.  The movie is perfect.

Recently watched the movie "All is Lost" with Robert Redford.  Thoroughly enjoyed it (friend did too).   :)

I remember that one, my father arranged a nautical " double feature " on one occasion several years ago ( the other film was Life of Pi ). Some tough lessons in Redford's film...

*sigh* Is there a good filmed version of As You Like It out there? Apparently there's an 80s one set in the London docklands I haven't found yet. That at least would get past the problem of presenting the fantasy-ish forest of Arden as an over-literal forest where everyone is going to get rained out an hour from now, a feeling, I can only guess, you'd happily bypass in all theatre performances.

There's plenty of fine acting here and clear comprehensible text, but it gave all the ammunition needed to whoever it was at the BBC who put their foot down and said there would be no more location shoots in the series and no more expensive silly costumes - and you can now only thank them. And a remarkably bad, truly cringe-inducing, wrestling scene.

Yes.  Not an easy one to watch too...but well worth it.

And I forgot to say @aligreto, thank you for reminding me about this film.  It had been on my mental "To Be Watched List", but accidentally fell off (darn neurotransmitters...not firing correctly!).

Double Indemnity (1944) w/ Barbara Stanwyck, Fred MacMurray, & Edward G. Robinson - story and 4K UHD review HERE - already owned an excellent BD of this highly rated 'film noir' production but at Criterion's half price sale could not resist -  ;D

Highly recommended in either blu-ray or 4K format, the latter if you have the right equipment.  Dave :)

The Beatles Hard Day's Night (1964).  Quite fascinating glimpse of that era.  Entertaining and charming.  You could see that they must have blown away the youths of that time.

This clip encapsulates the film.  Youth in revolt.

Krzysztof Kieślowski's film Camera Buff (though the original Polish title is "Amateur", for some reason we had to change it).

A man buys a film camera to document his newborn daughter growing up, and then his boss gets the idea of him filming at work (because owning a film camera is a rare thing in 1970s Poland), which leads to more and more filming. And some issues with what he's filming.

It's... kind of okay. At times I wondered where it was going, and a couple of characters behave a little oddly. The man's wife in particular seems to be existing in kind of melodrama where it's necessary to overreact. She doesn't much like her husband's ever-growing "hobby", and that would be fine, but really there are times when her behaviour was unconvincing and jarring.

Nice touch to have some real-life Polish film and television people in the story as the lead character enters their world.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

27th Disney Animated Feature Film
Having started with Snow White, I am right at the cusp of The Little Mermaid, where I am on more familiar ground, memory-wise. The 70's and 80's entries have been mostly unfamiliar, and perhaps rightfully so.

This one is a 'modern' New York update of Dickens' Oliver Twist, with an orphan cat and a diverse crew of dogs.

I am glad Disney went away from the celebrity-based jukebox musicals, although it was kind of fun to hear from Billy Joel, Huey Lewis, and others from this era.

My Musical Musings

Any Hayley Mills fans from her early Disney movies, i.e. 1960s (and later ones, as shown below) - I was a fan in my teen years (in fact, Hayley and I were born one day apart, same year!).  My favorites are The Parent Trap and In Search of the Castaways - I've not seen the later ones; my middle brother (3 years younger that me) was an even bigger fan and use to carry her picture in his wallet -  ;D

Most of these can now be watched on the Disney+ Channel EXCEPT the Castaways - I've owned a crappy 4:3 DVD for years; recently Disney did a BD remastering in 1.66 aspect ratio and released to its movie club - copies are not cheap but bought one from eBay and watched the other night - looked superb on my 4K HDTV - highly recommended for Hayley fans from that era.  Dave :)
