Absolutely....I NEVER miss a Bruce Willis flick when he is supplied with unlimited ammo.  The only one I can think of that I did not enjoy was Sin City.
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

Finally started this one. But the pilot episode is not included in the set  ???

The House on the Left (Wes Craven)

I'm still really stunned by this movie. I'm not really sure there's anything like it. Sometime Art takes on a face we don't want to look at, and such a reaction makes us question why we feel that way. It leads to a deeper knowledge of oneself. That's great art.

Amongst the most despicable people ever captured in film, there are scenes of actual tenderness between them...I think that fact, along with the more obvious ones to others whom have watched this film, elevates this movie into a Life Event. Anything that opens the door inside has to be considered highest aesthete, despite its profoundly repugnant, horrifying atmosphere.

Alright, enjoy yourself then  ;) I like the 3rd one the most, the little riddle games add variety to your typical cat and mouse catch-em-bad-guys' thrillers.

Also — I had no idea 70s Germany had such problems with race relations. Can any native German vouch for this?

I can confirm that growing up as a foreigner in Germany in the 70s/80s sucked. The narrowmindedness, the prejudices and the thinking in categories were mindboggling. Of course, like most places I have lived, the moment I move out, it improves. Go figure.

On a more positive not, the last movie I watched was "Paris, je t'aime", which despite the kitschy premise is extremely well done. Every one of the little episodes is fully engrossing. Go see it.

People who think "The Departed" is a good movie are people who haven't seen "Infernal Affairs" trilogy.

George

Been watching this show on HBO, it's funny, quirky and sweet.  :)

MahlerTitan, I wholeheartedly agree. The departed completely ruins the style of IA.

Kullervo

As always with Bresson, it was excellent. If only all movies could be so penetrating and thoughtful.

I did not care much for The Departed MT, but will give this a try if Netflix has it.

Update: Yup, they had it....#2 in my queue after The Trial.

Enjoy your show, Bogey:) It's so different from American gangster films though, so the story might not be as direct/obvious. My advice is to not miss any single line of dialogue, as the plot carries on fast.  :)

be sure to watch the entire trilogy, and be patient too, it gets quite confusing at the beginning, but eventually the loose ends will be tied, and you will have the entire picture.

Thanks for the heads up....I'll add the other two as I noticed they had these as well.
