Glad I got that Blu-Ray when I did, then!

Agree w/ Brian - that BD is a superb restoration (review attached from HERE) - I missed out on The Third Man on Criterion (own another BD production, not as well rated) which is still listed as OOP on their website; even sent them an email w/ an immediate response that they had lost the rights to republish the film - true?  Dave :)

Some anime for a change....

Ken B

The People vs Fritz Bauer

a good movie based on Bauer's role in finding Eichmann.

Nightmare Alley (1947)

A toned down -- very!! -- version of the book that is still pretty shocking by the standards of the time. Pretty good. GEEK!

And if so, why continue to list the title on your website?

I appreciate, Brian & Dave, that the Blu-Ray would be better still;  nevertheless, I am counting on the Criterion DVD of In a Lonely Place to be superior to the Columbia/Tristar product which I checked out from the BPL (August of 2016 . . . I do enjoy the BPL website).

CATS DON'T COME WHEN YOU CALL     Japan 2016
sweet, sentimental, somewhat predictable.  Would-be boxer is left to look after two kittens when his brother who found them moves out, based on a manga.   The cats are adorable.   It might upset young children or very sensitive viewers

Preston Sturgess'    UNFAITHFULLY YOURS
Rex Harrison, Linda Darnell, Rudy Vallee, Barbara Lawrence, Kurt Kruger, Edgar Kennedy
Jealous conductor plots revenge.    Alfred Newman coordinates and arranges Rossini, Wagner and Tchaikowsky as background to his plans.
To be enjoyed, not taken seriously.

Tonight, Susan & I streamed the film below from Amazon - on my 'too watch' list from reading reviews:

The Eagle Huntress (2016) - a 'documentary' w/ the synopsis below - we loved the film although meant to please, some mixed reviews w/ the expected comments from the Guardian w/ an undeserved 'poor' review - other ratings:  7.6/10, IMDB; 93%, Rotten Tomatoes; 4.6/5*, Amazon - this is a fun heart-warming film - the Guardian reviewer needs to be on anti-depressants - I'd agree w/ the other reviewers and would certainly do a 4*/5* on Amazon - if the summary below is of interest, then highly recommended - I would watch again but no plan to purchase.  Dave :)

QuoteAishol-pan, a 13-year-old girl, trains to become the first female in 12 generations of her Kazakh family to become an eagle hunter and rises to the pinnacle of a tradition that has been handed down from father to son for centuries. While there are many old Kazakh eagle hunters who vehemently reject the idea of any female taking part in their ancient tradition, Aisholpan's father, Nurgaiv, believes that a girl can do anything a boy can, as long as she's determined.

Undemandingly watchable, but already half forgotten.

The Marx Brothers (Groucho, Chico and Harpo), Charles Drake, Lois Collier, Lisette Verea, Sig Ruman
A NIGHT IN CASABLANCA  1946
at 105 minutes it's a bit longer than usual for them, and feels it.  The usual set pieces, Harpo and Chico harp and piano solos, a room filling up, and some French farce door openings and closings that require split-second timing are there but the dialogue is not up to the earlier classics. Not a waste of time though.

A good, old style heist job.

I might have gone for the BD of In a Lonely Place, Dave, except it was not currently in stock, and I saw that the DVD is a single disc.

Only $20 on Amazon Prime, Karl.

The feature-length documentary explores the thin line between right and wrong, the nature of evil and how super-villains can reflect society's dark side as well as our own personal fears. It also attempts to uncover the reasons why comic book fans are so fascinated by the very characters they hope to see defeated. The film focuses on DC Comics' most terrifying villains, including The Joker, Lex Luthor, Bane, Black Adam, Black Manta, Catwoman, Darkseid, Deathstroke, Doomsday, General Zod, Sinestro, the Suicide Squad, and others.
