Hi all,

I have resigned as moderator. I think that I have caused more stress and drama for the rest of the moderating team thanks to my aggressive approach. And I think that most of the drama on the forum was the result of my poor personal decisions. As for the recent drama, I'm confident that the rest of the team will resolve the drama and ultimately provide more harmony to the community.

And this is really a personal decision because I enjoyed the forum as a regular user. This is my oasis from the stresses of work. And I don't like having other stresses outside of work existing in my life.

I look forward to tomorrow when I'm posting without all the moderator stuff hanging over my head. :)

I am sorry to the extent that my actions made your job more stressful and precipitated discord on the board. For the record, I don't think you were in any way lacking as a moderator, nor do I take any satisfaction whatsoever in your decision to resign. On the contrary, I tend to feel that I should have kept my mouth shut, so the speak. My feeling is that Rob's free speech model gives the moderators inadequate tools for herding cats here. I hope that you will follow through with your intention to resume robust participation as a normal user. And I recognize I am blessed that no one here would every suggest me as possible moderator.

Congratulations! Without the extra ballast, it's easier to keep flying.

Wise philosophy, David. I too try to eliminate all avoidable stresses, including musical ones.

I for one regret that you abdicated as a moderator, for my notion is that you did quite well. However I understand that this job has a certain stress factor, and hard to handle at times, especially if the emotions takes over versus rationality. You have to have some sturdy shoes to keep upright. Thank you for your effort David, much appreciated.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

Well put, @Harry. And I also want to thank David for his effort.

Thank you for all you've done, David. I'm sure it is a stressful position.

Adding my thanks to those of everyone else. And I affirm putting relief from stress first. ("Life is too short," and all that.)

I see you're listening to some Bach organ works, which sound like just the ticket.

I'm sorry the stress of dealing with bad actors got to you, but it is certainly understandable. I think you displayed enormous patience with some of the repeat and relentless offenders.

There's no way that's true.

Sorry you feel this way, but do what you need to do for your mental health / blood pressure.

Absolute not true at all.

I do think resigning was the right thing to do, both for your personal sanity (as you yourself indicated) and as a positive step towards the simmering down of tensions in this section of the forum. Thank you for your service.
