Just bought this cd as my first dip into Monteverdi and i think it is excellent.  It has gained super reviews in the last few weeks from the Guardian (UK) and The Sunday Times (UK) newspapers amongst others.

Rinaldo Alessandrini conducts with Furio Zanasi as Orfeo, Monica Piccinini as La Musica.

It comes with an excellent hardbacked booklet of about 50 pages on Orfeo and Monteverdi.

Anyone else got this new version?  How does it compare to others?  What about DVD versions?  I have seen clips on Youtube of the Liceu in Barcelona DVD and it looks good.

My apologies, yashin, I completely overlooked your post.  :-[

The only DVD of L'Orfeo I have is the one conducted by René Jacobs and staring Simon Keenlyside. It is a bit of an unusual production because the choreographer Trisha Brown directed it. Keenlyside is doing a lot gesturing and it is more a combination of dance, music and singing. Not everyones cup of tea. I bought it because of Keenlyside's great singing!
