The over/under betting has already started on this.  50% of proceeds go to winner, the other 50% goes to Rob in support of GMG.  Thank you (and MN Dave) for supporting GMG!  ;D
You are not taking your 12% service charge? What a dude!
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

I should, as that is the combined Manitoba/Canadian Federal goods and services tax.  ;D

5% GST
7% Manitoba Provincial tax

I suppose in hindsight I can't be associated with any composer. I like too many of them!  ;D

Yes Dimitri, I always thought that too.  I am surprised that you are still living though, as I'd heard you left this World in 1975.

Yes, Ravel is one of my favorites. :) He usually ranks around seventh or eighth place in my top ten composers.

Hmm, you should dig up one of the top 30 (or whatever number it is) composers threads and post there :)

That sounds like fun! :D I'll try to find a thread of that sort.

But, Delius, like Shostakovich, Ravel, Bartok, and Vaughan Williams are my musical soul mates. Even if I don't listen to any of them for months, they remain my absolute favorites. This will never change.

Couldn't help but crack a wry grin when I saw this post (hence the bolding and underlining).

Yeah, I was on some heavy medication during that time in my listening. :)

Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

So I looked back and saw I was voted as Xenakis more than anyone else...  :P

I can understand that, though snyprrr definitely fits that more than I do. Pushing aside what composers are favorites of a person, I'd possibly choose Liszt for myself: someone who is interested in exploring new territory, writing in very different styles from piece to piece and has ambitions that are way too big (and is also a virtuoso at their instrument). The fame, etc. no...

If the rule is you don't have to like the composer, snyprrr might really be more like a Boulez, Carter or Lachenmann... something pointillistic, anyways, because of his writing style. Perhaps even a serialist composer if we find out that his posts contain some sort of hidden messages.

Haha, no, but I definitely have an affinity for Hungarian composers (Bartok, Ligeti, now Haydn, Kodaly -- I need to hear more of, btw). I also used to like playing the gypsy-type violin music (e.g. Sarasate), but not so much anymore.

My family is originally French-Canadian (three out of four grandparents). Maybe this explains the Ravel and Debussy...

Explains the intelligence, but Ravelism can happen in even the best of families.

As for Kodaly his best piece by far is the solo cello sonata op 8.
