George

I just tried logging off and then back on to download a second file from rapidshare and it didn't work.  :-[

A Rapidshare tip?

Their bandwidth restriction for non premium users work by tracking your IP. If right after downloading the file you disconnect and reconnect to the internet, you will probably get a new IP and can continue catching files.

Is there a trick to this?

What sort of service do you use? It maybe that you have a fixed IP address.

Wait, do you mean my internet service?

Try rebooting. If it still doesn't work, you may have a fixed IP address. I haven't tried this method myself, as I have an account with rapidshare.

Reboot the computer?

I just tried it, and got the same problem.

Do you use a router at home? If so, reboot it (or if it has a web interface, disconnect and reconnect it using that).

I just have a modem and a cable connecting to the modem and computer.  :-\

unplug the modem's power cable, wait for 15-20 seconds then plug it back in. This should renew your IP address.

You almost certainly have a fixed IP address, then. No rapidshare hacks for you. :(

We also have wireless connection, I just remembered, so I am downloading another file with that. Are those connections usually from a fixed IP address as well?

Yes, particularly if it's not your wireless that's providing the signal. (Which I assume it isn't, given that it's got a different IP address from your wired connection.)

Once I download these three files, then what? Do they need to be joined? If so, does HJSplit do the job?

not edward

If you have rarzilla, just click on the first of the three and it should autojoin them.

Or winrar or Power Archiver should do the same.

Any reason you don't use Mediafire, Manuel?

Not really. I made my first uploads to OperaShare following their tradition of Rapidshare. I created a free account there, and use their RapidUploader.
The only problem I've had so far is that I can not purchase a premium account, it seems my Visa debit card is for domestic use only, even though I use it with one account I have at the HSBC...
