The best solution would be to move to say the Netherlands, then you even get free shipping every 4 weeks. :P ;D
:) The only thing is, by sending to the US, I get VAT off, so if I have enough items, I actually can get even better prices. So if I buy EUR 50, in US this is EUR 55.50 (no VAT + Shipping), while you pay EUR 50 (with free shipping). But if I get EUR 200, then I pay EUR183 and you pay EUR200 (with free shipping). So the best way is making fewer purchases, but big 'uns! So while I cry about the shipping, it is simply because it makes me wait for my discs (though they do sometimes go OOP, which has happened to me on a few occassions)!!!!!

Yes that's the risk, leaving them to long waiting until you have enough to order, sometimes they are OOP. Like this beautiful Verlet's Bach box.
Not my thing really, but if you want it, you have to order it right away.

Ok, you're making me feel much better about an Amazon purchase I made last night with a voucher I had. (wacky Irish tax system, you can have a modest tax free Christmas bonus so long as it's in voucher form which would make sense if it had to be for a local Irish shop but it doesn't)

Another Ligia Digital beauty:

I somehow missed that one. Hopefully it's still there at my next round.
It probably will - it's not like the hordes are at the gates, demanding to listen to Marin Marais... ::) 0:)

Well I for one, ordered it, and I send my friends there too. ;D

Ironically, it's pretty bad to the US unless you get enough volume. At EUR 13, I usually feel I need to order 20+ items to make it worth it. I think my last oder with them had 30 items.

well, split over 7 items, it comes to about $2.50 US per item--not much more than, say, Presto or Arkivmusic--and after the VAT is taken off, I still ended up paying about the same or even less than I would on Amazon MP.  Of course, most of them were part of their CPO on sale list.

And to make it even sweeter, they've already emailed me to say they've shipped it--that would be the fastest turnaround time for any vendor except possibly Arkvimusic, and once (and only once) Barnes and Noble, and a couple of Amazon Marketplace sellers. Much faster than MDT or Presto, with whom I can wait a week before an order ships. Plus they dropped in some sort of free sampler CD from Sony--I have no idea of what's on it until it arrives.

The only problem is when your order exceeds certain dollar amount, the mailman is instructed that he must get a signature before the package can be dropped off, i.e. you may need to make a trip to your local post office to pick up.

Over here that's the default for everything that isn't a simple letter. Being a stay-at-home dad has its benefits sometimes. ;)

Yes - that's true and it is a pain, and one must factor that in (unless one is lucky enough to be home). But thankfully the local PO is not far (and I don't think it was on any list to close) and on the way to all sorts of useful places. But it is a pain. Still, the CPO stuff was so cheap - under $10/disc (sometimes well under) compared to the $13-18 at any other site (usually 1/3 the price or so of what I could get at Amazon or Amazon MP).

Orpheus  ;)

I wonder why they want to sell this box so badly -- is it that bad/unpopular? ;) it now's going for 1 hundredth of a Euro (1 Euro cent, if I'm using the terminology correctly).

Hehe, cheeky site. I wonder whether they will honour it.
Peanut butter, flour and sugar do not make cookies. They make FIRE.

The price went up to 69,99! :o

I'm soooo glad I ordered my copy right away - I just picked it up from the post office.

I ordered mine just in time, it seems!
presumably the little rush of orders from GMGers made them think the set is more popular than they thought.

We give them pretty good business - I'm sure Harry tells them about that. :)

Perhaps Rob should close a sponoring/link deal for GMG with jpc as well?

Yes as a matter of fact I do! ;D
And it would be a excellent idea to fix a sponsoring deal with JPC.

And now it's gone!

Do you think I should have gone for it when it was Euro 0.01? It would probably have been the only time I could have justified paying for JPC's shipping. :D

I was tempted but really, I have no need for yet more cycles of his organ music - glad to think that somebody who would actually listen to it might have got the copy I passed on.

Same here - I've got the SACD edition from BIS and have yet to do it justice.

Yes, one cent for something you don't want makes it a bad purchase. Somethings that's all to easily forgotten. I've got Walcha and Koopman and isn't even particularly interested in the organ repertoire.
