At-say-60 minutes per CD-my collection comes to a listening time of 104 days and 9 hours(roughly speaking!). So, assuming that I cannot listen while I am asleep, and that there are other things in life(?), that would probably mean that it would take around a year to play the whole lot from start to finish ;D

Seriously though....the question for me is what happens to all these cds after I am no more??

Opus106

77 individual discs. It excludes a couple of 'Best of... ' ones.

We have had 2 lengthy threads on this very topic. Since I don't personally know anyone who would be even slightly interested in mine (I expect to outlive my father, but who could say?) I guess mine will go to a library. Or else my wife can decide who among my friends can bear the burden of shipping and handling...   :)

No need to be, it is a topic that interests all of us, even the younger people who have a good grasp on the uncertainties of life. If I could remember the names of the threads I would link you to them... :-\

My wife could never do that, although it would be a good solution for someone who could handle the details. It takes a certain facility with the computer and the other things that go with selling that way. Plus a knowledge of what is actually there. :-\

Hey, Dave, note my "What's playing" strap... Thanks for the tip. :)

So far. First listen, they came in yesterday's mail. Nice playing in the first one. I would call them wonderful piano 5tets and simply forget that they were originally concertos, then I would feel a lot better over the whole affair. :)

No, not this year's accrual, Harry. The OP wants to know how much you have in your entire collection. :D

Brünnhilde forever

How to get rid of your collection after your departure?

Why eBay? Much too cumbersome and too many glitches. I have been selling at amazon Marketplace for years with great success and no bother whatsoever. All Mrs. Gurn has to do is list the disc in an easy to understand program  and wait for amazon to tell her that Dittersdorf's requiem has been sold and where to ship the thing. Amazon even deposits the money for the sale into her bank every two weeks!  ;D

Wait, was that a shot? :D   Yes, I think it was. But anyway, you're right, Amazon would be a better choice. Things like "3 Idiots of Tröndheim Dancing in their Swimming Pool and Singing Arias" can stay listed forever without having to be renewed... :)

Déjà vu from the Old Forum -  ;D (believe we had a 20+ page thread on the same topic!) -  ;)

New Year's resolution - I finally split-out my 'classical' & 'non-classical' CD database (using Access), and also on the printouts made tabulations of the number of items & the number of discs; so about 1800 CLASSICAL CDs at the moment & 1500 NON-CLASSICAL CDs - need to get that classical number up!  I've been collecting CDs since late 1984, so the cost has been 'spread-out' over a couple of decades - :)

Just wanted to first check my previous post in this thread - the database that I'm using is set to tabulate 'units', i.e. singles, doubles, or 'boxes' counted just once and also the 'total' number of CDs - just updated last week (after 6 months!); now, 1646 'units' w/ a total of 2307 discs (i.e. the classical portion of my collection); so, I've added about 500 CDs in the last 18 months or so!  Much of this addition has been 'box sets' w/ 4 to a dozen or so discs each!  :D
