A few more works for violin and orchestra, in an attempt for a second round.

NOTE FOR PLAYERS: You may find more diversity here than in the first one.  ;D

Each number 01, 02, 03, etc. is either a violin concerto or a work for violin and orchestra that does not qualify for the concerto label. Whenever you see an a/b subindex is because I thought an additional clip would be a bit of help with that work. The 0Xa file is supposed to be more complicated than the 0Xb, so I suggest you to ignore the b-subscripted files in the first round of listenings.

You are welcome... But by diversity I may mean that I might have played a few jokes when picking up the clips.  ;)

Oh yeah, I just meant that my notes would not include identifications of the pieces I recognized - though I only recognized three or four.  ;D

Added the clips as separate zip files to the first post.

Is 15 Khachaturian? Don't have time to check at the moment, and don't remember that one all that well but I think it could be...

(Don't have time to listen to anything beyond 16 at the moment either... :()

Maciek

34 - Szymanowski 1st!!! 8) (Wilkomirska...??)

33 appears to be something very famous - but I thought all the famous ones were already taken in the previous quiz?? ??? Oh, I wish I had more time to check all this - but the fact is I'm listening to the clips in the background while I'm doing something else... :(

Actually, I surprised myself here ( ;D) but I recognized the slight glissandi.

No. 17, if I recall the number correctly, is Barber.

The Barber used to be famous. More famous than it should have been, even. Maybe.

N'est pas?

I like the whole thing... so any level of celebrity it could gain is OK for me.

Crap. I thought 5 might be Khachaturian. At any rate its composer is gypsy/folk-rhythm inspired! 4 is a lovely work - sounds like a movie-ish piece, almost. 6 - hey!  :D

13 - aaah! I recognize this one. What is it? *furiously pounds head against wall* :(
14 - well obviously I recognize the tunes, just not the arrangement! :D
16 - don't know what it is, but it's a hilarious, exuberant klezmer-type work :D
18 - Jeno Hubay. This is, I believe, one of his Scenes de la Csarda, in fact Number 2 (?).
21 - Kurt Atterberg!  ;D
25 - John Morris! Young Frankenstein Not a violin concerto really, but my favorite violin solo, ever.  ;D
33 - well that's one way of playing Brahms!
38 - Hubay again. Concerto No 3 - this scherzo is one of my favorite bits for violin and orchestra.
