Took me 3 hours to get home from work yesterday. 4 inches of snow came at just the wrong time. Cold and snowy very early this year. First year I moved here (1998) it didn't snow at all until Jan 1st - then it dumped over 20 inches in one go!

Just stay away from Glasgow, that's all ;D

(John will be after me now ;D)

I can imagine.  I was in Glasgow in early October, and it was miserable then.  Came home with a nasty chest cold that hung on forever.

It sounds like paradise...I really want to live in Scotland one day, I hate when its really hot in summer. And it doesn't get so bad in winter either right?

I hear ya! I grew up within 5 minutes of Bondi Beach and I hate the sun. I love living in Edinburgh - the drizzle, 4pm sunsets, proper winter coats, cashmere jumpers, all of it :).

Brünnhilde forever

On a sunny, wintry day, even a rose garden is beautiful, without blossoms! The multitude of glistening jewels on the snowcover are just as enjoyable as the June roses!  :)

snowing quite heavily in London all evening and is sticking, everything is white :)

Seconded; especially seeing the deep-freeze London is being subjected to, this year. 8)

woke up to 6 inches of snow and heavy snowfall with everything ridiculously white. Whole city will be at a standstill today! lol

All buses in London have been cancelled, the Tube is service is spotty and the mother-in-law, who was meant to return up north today, will be staying for another day at least - but that's no problem. No need for mother-in-law jokes here.

come on give us some jokes :)

this country can't deal with 1cm of snow, let alone 6 inches (yeah, my measuring system is all confused)

edit: should say this city

Last time the snow was this heavy, 18 years ago, me and the other half were flying to Malta. We had to practically fight to get on the train to Gatwick and then faced a six-hour delay to the flight. I can't take today off work, so I'm looking forward to a day of chaos. It's just a bit too far to walk.

Hello fellow Londoners, I thought I'd write in and say that I am trapped at home today.  I don't think I have ever seen London so white and beautiful if I may say so as it is today.  I had a business meeting in Nuneaton today that was cancelled due to the weather, the trains aren't running as they normally do....I hope everyone here in the UK is able to get to work on time??

It was even snowing in Somerset, of all the ungodly things to happen. I almost fell over when I went out side to do this, as I had forgotten that snow was slippery. Go away, snow: you confuse and alarm me!

(When it's sunny the paving looks really nice - snow is not fun...)

All sun and blue sky now ???. Looks perilously slushy though and I'll probably slip and break my neck :-\. Crazy crazy weather ...

Gloucestershire OK really, some dangerous patches going over the hills, but we are OK just now. My wife should be in Richmond on Thames tomorrow....not much chance I think, there were no trains today going towards London. Wed I have to try to get to the city. I am hoping that by then things will be coping.

I was messing around with my point and shoot while I was in town* and noticed that individual snowflakes can be picked out if a flash is used (see bottom middle of full-sized shot). Kinda cute IMO:

*Seemingly one quarter of the population are milling around the streets atm because the snow has become so heavy, there are snow angels everywhere. It was quite polite that people throwing snowballs avoided me because I had a camera...

all day there's been an extraordinary silence outside, as if the snow covers all the pointless noise that we often don't even notice (though notice when it's not there). Just came back from walking around the streets throwing snowballs at signs and stuff, hardly a soul about. I hope we get more snow tomorrow   0:)
