I don't recall that character last time I saw that operetta.

Read again and smell the sarcasm.  ;)

Abe's above statement was a classic anti semitic statement and accusation regarding the Jews and their awesome powers and world domination plans nonsense.

To let his comment stay here is disturbing, but I'll wait and hear one of the mods explanation, perhaps they could explain their position as to why they let Abe's anti semitic comment stay here on GMG...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have things moved on? Probably not; as asked, I will give a response from the one Mod. Over many years I have read in various newspapers and seen reported on TV that in the US there is a substantial pressure group that does what it can to ensure that Israel is not merely protected, but that it is blindly supported in every argument that it has with its neighbours. Some of these reports have been about politicians who have suffered because they would not agree to the kind of support that was deemed appropriate.

So, I have gained an impression that between certain Right-wing Christian fundamentalist groups and a Jewish lobby, that what was written is true, is not a slur, is not racist, but a restating of what seems to me to be a fact, a controversial fact.

However, not only are you Saul incapable of seeing any criticism as having any validity; you showed your true unpleasant colours again not merely in your decision to provide a 'lesson' to M about Germans, but in the whole tone of it.

I won't be getting bogged down in any arguments with you. We know your opinions, there is no need to trumpet them again. Remember the warnings about your religious spam. That is what I regard your rant to have been. Had I been around to see it, it would have been binned very quickly.

If you want respect; you are going to have to show it to others. I would also say to the others who enjoy, seemingly live, to bait Saul, that it is time you moved on and left him to his own devices. The art thread was distorted by one or two who are determined to be nasty about Saul at every possible opportunity.

Just as a P.S. to knight's comprehensive comments: once again, none of us sees all the posts on this forum.  If there is a complaint, the "Report to moderator" is just a click away; it alerts us so we can review the post and decide what to do about it, whether it is left alone, edited or deleted entirely.

Mike,

Your above comments are shameful. We have all heard "Jews control the media" diatribe before, and any intelligent person knows that it is anti semitic.

Too bad you're not able to see this.

I'm not going to argue with you about it. This is what I feel about his remarks.

M forever

Sure they do. Just like, as knight said, fundamentalist Christian groups also exert a lot of pressure and influence on the media. Pointing that out isn't "racist" either.

Besides, you yourself are a perfect example for how some feel entitled to control the pulic discussion by raising the "anti-semitic!" flag at every single given opportunity. Like them, you just *abuse* the historical fact that Jews were often persecuted for your own small agendas, you see yourself as automatically right because if someone disagrees with you, he is automatically an "anti-semite" and you are automatically the victim. People like you have yadayadaed the holocaust and other examples of actual anti-semitism into complete irrelevance, like Seinfeld pointed out in his comments about his uncle ("He doesn't get a good seat in the synagogue? That's because the Rabbi is an anti-semite"). But then I guess Seinfeld is a raging anti-semite himself.

You're talking nonsense and you are changing the topic at every single opportunity.
I rarely accuse people of been anti-Semitic, and I don't want to make the term cheap. But Abe's comments are anti Semitic, and it is so obvious.

You're trying to turn the tables and blame me instead of you standing up and speaking the truth. Why cant you once in your life side with the truth? is this such a hard thing to do?

Abe's comments were anti Semitic, and you are covering it up and saying that he said nothing wrong. That is unacceptable.

Both of you Knight and M forever are wrong about Abe's intentions. This is not the first time he said disturbing words about the Jews, and you know it. But again, its always has to be me, Saul always has to be wrong, because he is a Jew with an agenda,(again , you are falling victim to this whole "Jewish revolutionary movement crap") I don't have any agendas or any need or any desire to call anyone an anti Semite, in fact it is the last thing I want to do. Count my posts here, they are over one thousand, how many times have I called someone an anti-Semite?

You make it sound that its what I do. This is ridiculous. Yes M and Knight both of you have lost touch with reality. Its a shame that both of you stick up to Abe. And its even shameful that you do it, just because Saul disliked his comments. What's with you.. it has nothing to do with me. I am only pointing out something which is disturbing to me, and I'm sure that other Jews here didn't like those comments as well.

I would appreciate it very much , that Knight will reconsider and remove Abe's hateful comments. Take Abe's comments in the context of his previous attacks on Israel and the Jews. I remember that I had a similar discussion with Abe, about his very disturbing comments about Jews before, so this is not the first time that Abe is spewing his hate here.

I will appreciate it very much that Knight will remove his comments. They are unacceptable.

Dunno, probably a few hundred times, I would guess. The vast majority of your posts is broadcasting hate propaganda and acting the victim, even if you don't always use the exact term "anti-semite".

BTW, there is nothing wrong with having an agenda. I think we all have some kind of agenda and we all  have our personal angles. What gets on the nerves a lot is if someone argues only in these clichés and black-and-white enemy pictures.

I don't think there is a "Jewish revolutionary movement". I don't even know what that would be supposed to be. I don't think anybody here really has something against Jews in general. Just against you. Because you talk *a lot* of crap. But - there you have it again! - you hide behind those accusations.

As they say, "quod erat demonstrandum".

Saul

M, youre crazy.

I have nothing else to tell you.

I know. Again, "quod erat demonstrandum".

Zionists exert considerable influence in the media. No presidential candidate dare piss them off. Hence why Obama had to give that speech to aipac.

His comment isn't "anti-semitic" at all. There is absolutely no mentioning or hinting at racial inferiority of semitic people in it.

It isn't really "anti-zionist" either. It just states that Zionist groups do have considerably influence in the media in the US, and that is a fact. But even being openly "anti-zionist" isn't automatically "anti-semitic" because there are Jews which don't agree with Zionism either.

Since your general educational level is so extremely low, you probably didn't understand what Renfield said about Belgium (that's a small country in Europe). Basically, what it means is that when you say a group of people have a lot of influence. that is not necessarily an "anti" comment. I personally often speak out against churches and the influence they still have on politics, but there are also supporters of these churches who would admit that, yes, they do have a lot of influence. The difference is that they think that is good, and I don't. But admitting the basic fact as such doesn't have anything to do with "anti-semitism" or any other "anti" this or that.

You do realize that if someone like you who is known as a very open and extreme racist on these forums really has no business complaining about other people in this context here, do you?

Actually it is an extremely offensive statement because it repeats an ugly canard used by antisemites in the early days of radio and television, and in particular because it uses the term "Zionists" which is still used as code for the belief that Jews are basically disloyal to the United States, and therefore don't merit such influence.  It is offensive enough that I think the moderators should remove that statement from this thread and warn Abe to moderate his behavior.

I have used the option to report this to the moderator so that the comment and the discussion will be excised.

Actually, I'm not entirely convinced that it IS anti-Semitic, but it has caused such furor here that the time has come for lockdown. Possibly permanent, we'll see.

Maybe I recommend to everybody voicing their opinion on this thread to read Abe's post again?

It's the word Zionisthe used! Zionists and Semites are not the same.
