I voted even though i have no idea who North is. And I probably haven't ever listened to Goldmark. Sounds like Hallmark.

O but you're wicked!  >:D

Actually, I imagine that even J. Strauss would bury the first two in a landslide!

True.  How do you feel Levi Strauss would hold up?

;D

Considering the $MM his heirs have given the San Francisco Symphony, to my way of thinking he would hold up nearly as well as a pair of button-fly 501s.

Very intelligent, Don. I guess one doesn't have to bother with your posts either.  :P

So what are you doing here?  Come on, I'm just having a little fun.  You can't put North and Goldsmith in the same league as Strauss without expecting some undesired responses.

A more equitable poll could pit North and Goldsmith against Dittersdorf.

Well ok. And since you asked for "favored composer", I did cast a vote. For Goldsmith.  ;D

If you had read more closely, you would have noticed that that's not what I said. Others in that thread sugested it, I suggested something different.

Only one possible choice, of course.

Now I'm entirely confused, so it's off for a long walk with my dog General Jackson to try to get the cobwebs out of my head.  I hope we don't get lost.

All the cobwebs? That's gonna be a pretty long walk.  ;D

Sure will, and we do a five-mile journey every day.  That's one of the advantages of being retired.  When I was a worker, most of my travels were by office building elevators.

Can't wait to see the results of the Korngold vs. Stockhausen poll.   :)

Christ almighty! We don't want James to jump off that cliff.

Trust me. Even I don't.  :P

Well, I almost had an aneurysm trying to answer this one.

Quoting a line from "Where's Poppa":

Almost doesn't count.  :P

Oh, I see that someone with a sense of irony has voted for North.

Mike
DavidW: Yeah Mike doesn't get angry, he gets even.
I wasted time: and time wasted me.

sound67

Don't think so. Someone who actually knows North must have done it.

Too bad North never comitted to something as pompous as the Symphonia Domestica or Ein Heldenleben. He would have been much better known.  ;D

Or perhaps he would have settled for being known even slightly more than marginally.
