I ordered this recording a few months ago from MDT but just realized the Amazon US site says this recording will be released on January 29, 2013, pre-order now!      What a joke?

Upon checking on my computer, I have 2 Sibelius recordings by Karajan on EMI, one he was with BPO - Finlandia was the title and the other was with the Philharmonia Orchestra - Symphonies 2 & 5. Perhaps that Finlandia CD was the predecessor of your CD, which conceivably has better SQ.  But then EMI is notorious for using too much compression and noise reduction that its remastered CD does not always sound better than the previous version ...

Here is my version, recorded in 1977 ...

I have the 70th Anniversary Edition on EMI but the set only has 4 CD's ...
