I like this recording very much Andrei! :)

It's very nice indeed.

Interested to know your opinions of both of these.

I'll want a second listen to the Seventh before I can give much of an opinion beyond immediate enjoyment, and I want to listen some more.  The Eighth I didn't listen to just yet;  needed a palate-cleanser.  Will listen to it later today!

Schumann didn't last long.  ;D

You're such a pain in the ass, Dave... :D

I love to listen to this work while walking in the snow. Since it had been awhile since I heard this recording of it, I decided to bring it out for a spin. It wasn't as good as I remembered, lacking any real sense of excitement. The slowish tempos and the fact that Ashy never really catches fire contribute to this. Shoulda brought Rudy/Jansons or Janis/Dorati instead. Oh, well...

A fun, minor work . . . it would have been nicer if a longer work might have filled out the CD more (as it is, it clocks a modest 50 minutes).

Always a good listen, and especially in a fine performance & excellent recording.  Boulez does not 'elbow out' any of my already-faves, but there's nothing wrong with having another well-likeable recording.

Did you dig the other 2 works on that disc? I think it's a fun disc as a whole - but yeah, they could have filled it out more

Yes, mostly the Clarinet Concerto, of course; but agreed, the whole disc is thoroughly enjoyable.

Well, I guess Schumann is a much better avatar for my username than anyone else, so I'll keep it. :)

You like his music, I presume... if you don't, shame on you! :)
