ZEMLINSKY:         Lyrische Symphonie            / Varady, Fischer Dieskau, BPO, Maazel

The masterpiece of Zemlinsky in a very beautiful interpretation. Pity that the CD has not the poems of Tagore (unlike the LP version I had for many years).

Oh, that's great -- no symphonies at all! (On the brighter side, a HIP recording of Davidde Penitente is available again.)

OTOH, the fact that there are no symphonies means no duplication for me . . . some of those composers are not particularly of interest to me, but hey, maybe this set will rehabilitate them ; )

Brrr! If you're ever going to get into bubbly Italian fluff, then Geminiani's bubbly Italian fluff is some of the finest you could choose :)

-_- I get that a lot for small-label US pop, it's a fuss. I upped two sections for your streamification here: 1, 2. The host seems a bit temperamental today, but if streaming fails, there is a dl option.

It won't let me DL or stream without signing in. I forgot my userword/password so I'll have to find them (I know I wrote them down). Thanks for taking the trouble, Sara. I'll get it yet  :D

In the meantime, listening to Bax 3 conducted by Sir Edward Downes.

Sarge

Don't bother with this one, Sarge. It's appealing music from a contemporary composer; very low-brow.

;)

On a more serious note, it's a bit fun, indeed, but I just wish it wasn't so repetitive (within the span 140 seconds!).

Figure H....Nyman borrows the Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody?  :o  Was that on purpose or a happy accident?
