Well, one learns something new everyday.  I didn't realize Novi was female.  0:)

And I didn't realize she was a Scot... the other 3 look like "paint yourself blue" types though... ;D

and an extremely pleasant extended meeting with Knight, Renfield and Novi :)

I actually had to scroll back to read again the above quote because I was wondering what those highball classes were doing on the breakfast table. Extension from the breakfast? Late breakfast I assume.  :D

Some lively (and lovely) characters there! I am glad to have had the privilege of seeing several GMG members in the flesh, otherwise I would have been slightly envious...

I have had the good fortune to meet three fellow GMG members in the flesh ( :)) - and I'm still envious! Looks like a great meeting.

The first time I meet a GMGer face to face, will likely be next winter.......eh Bruce?  ;D

Knight, Renfield and Novi :)

Anyone seen the French movie Amélie? Anyone else reminded of the globetrotting garden gnome, sending photos from most unexpected places, suggesting the rest of us to travel a bit while we are able?  :D

I have only met one GMG member in the flesh and that is my wife. All others are well clothed.  ;D

Wait, I did go swimming with one former member and in the locker we did "meet in the flesh".

No...the only two native Scots are Knight(Mike) and myself ;D And-since Mike lives in England and fellow member John has recently moved to England-the only native Scottish member still residing here, as far as I know, is myself.

However....in using the word 'native' I do not want to imply that I would ever consider "painting myself blue" ;D  I am a reasonably civilised person-I hope :)-and not at all warlike. Unless, that is, you happen to belong to an invading Roman legion :)

Be honest now ... did you have an affair with M forever?

Certainly NOT forever.

Oh, come on, Colin, don't disillusion me. I always pictured you as the "Braveheart" type, and certainly Mike is. :D

Seriously.....

I would just like to thank this Forum and the people behind it for providing the opportunity to get in touch with people with similar musical interests. I have now met six members of GMG over the past four months and have truly enjoyed their company, hospitality and their conversation. By and large my close friends-who each have their own many virtues :)-do not share my musical tastes or interests.

It has been-and continues to be-a marvellous experience over the past couple of years since I joined GMG conversing online with other people who do have these interests and enthusiasms. Meeting other members face-to-face has enhanced that pleasure immeasurably :)

Plan on coming to Boston, Colin:)

If I return to Boston at any time in the future, Karl, I shall certainly let you know :)

Our Edinburgh breakfast turned out to provide us with a nice leisurely time to chat. It emphasised to me again that we have some exceptionally bright young folk who post here. We certainly covered a lot of ground; as there were quite a few differing interests around the table. And for once, I had a conversation with folk where we did not end up excoriating the UK MPs and their expenses claims for cleaning moats or building duck islands for their garden ponds. We had other topics to talk about.

I won't post my photo of the event, it is all but identical with Colin's.

Colin made not just an effort by coming from Perth the previous night and turning up for a meal he never normally awake to consume; but our tardiness at the table earned him a parking ticket from the eager-beaver Edinburgh traffic wardens.

I had no idea when I would be back in Edinburgh; then opened an E mail at work this morning telling me I would be on a course in Edinburgh for a week in June! However, I then opened a later E mail, the course will now be in Bristol, 40 miles from me...BOO! Say I

If I wear a beard, people sometimes think I'm turkish (I'm not). Which is, under the political correct surface, not something people really love from their hearts, to say the least... When we bought our house in 2002, people thought like "eek, turkish neighbours!!!" :D
