BTW, every performance of Reformation should have to perform the 2-minute Recitative that is included in the Hogwood edition performed here. It's such a lovely movement, and an even better bridge between the Andante and Chorale of the Finale.

The 3-cd set of Ronald STEVENSON transcriptions and fantasies
if they weren't so interesting I would do just one disc
played by Murray McLachan

I have the 2 concertos, also played by MM. Recommended.

ComposerOfAvantGarde

Some Wagner and some 'Wagner'

The last disc in this set with Gustav Leonhardt's Philips recordings that I hadn't listened to yet:

I found this set overall a terrific experience, with few weak points and Leonhardt in absolute top form in his later years.

After a false start due to a flawed disc (producing the dreaded "flutter effect"), now on my way with a 1st encounter with early Baroque composer Luigi Rossi:

Locatelli: Concerti Grossi Op. 1 Nos. 11-12 [Krecek]....

Full sounding and well played, these versions are sufficiently sufficiently interesting and different when compared with the Ruhadze cycle on Brilliant to prevent a cull of this Naxos CD.

Julian Anderson's Book Of Hours - Oliver Knussen, cond.

I never bought another HIP version of these since Sigiswald Kuijken's DHM recording.
But François Fernandez' interpretation has been on the wishlist for a very, very long time indeed....

First impressions meet my high expectations: fleet, edgy and crisp playing. I like Fernandez' sound: strong and penetrating yet full bodied.
A kind of violin equivalent to Paolo Beschi's interpretation of the cello suites, exactly what I was looking for...  :)

Ferneyhough's String Quartet No.6 - Arditti Quartet

I listened to this recently and was bowled over by the beauty of the cello music in the opining part of the quartet.

That's interesting. I'll have to pay special attention to that in my next listen.

JS Bach: Cantata: Wer mich liebet, der wird mein Wort halten BWV 59 [Thomas]....

A big, full sound which one does not really hear too often these days, but one which is pleasant to revisit.
