Rinaldo

Something fresh for the local metalheads:

What starts as a Black Sabbath revival quickly becomes its own spectacular thing. Highly recommended, especially to anyone who thinks about heavy music strictly in the past tense.

Bigger, bolder.

I guess I'll give it a listen then. :) I need to pick up the one and only Oath album too.

Been mainly listening to the new Agalloch, waiting for the new Opeth and Decapitated albums in Aug and Sep

I just nearly died hearing "new Decapitated album." Had no idea. Wow, an actual new metal album this year from one of my favorite bands.

And I say this because, of course, Opeth's new album isn't metal. Actually, I have listened to the whole album and it's what you'd expect- a more confident sounding Heritage, but just not that interesting IMO. They really need to get back to their old style.

I am over my metal phase.  :D

As usual, I've lied to myself.

What's your favorite metal so far this year, dudes?

And if you don't like metal, you need not answer.  :)

The new erato

My favorite metal is bronze.

Rinaldo

Converge has an album coming in November, The Dusk in Us. The first single didn't do anything for me, then came Eve which I liked but it didn't end up on the record.

Here's the second single, Under Duress:

Just the image in that frame makes me not want to watch it. :D

Rinaldo

An older record (from 2014) but a recent discovery that I'm crazy about: MANTAR

Just guitar and drums and yet they manage to sound like Darkthrone partying with Lemmy.

Bough the album right away, the rest of their stuff is also available on Bandcamp.

You did it

The Melvins are one of the greatest bands of all time and they're still going strong as ever!  :-*

The album art has me really intrigued  :)

That's Jacob Bannon, the lead singer. He's got a pretty distinctive style.

And the album, oh man. I was sceptical at first but a total convert now. Another Converge masterpiece, relentless and inventive.
