May I ask where you picked that recording up from.  I have been looking to purchase this for quite a while now, assuming that its the 1990 live recording?  Cheers.

Here you are, so as to contradict anyone that states I dont like opera, I do, but the right kind of opera, like this one. :)

Bah, Harry! Opera before Mozart isn't really opera!

This box was lend by a friend of mine, but I will have it myself

I'm curious at to how it stands up against the excellent Beux Arts Trio!

Hmmm...I've got some very noisy heavy metal playing, but Harry's mention of Papa has me reaching for the Trios n E b...

:)

I've just recently become extremely interested in Handel and Monteverdi's operas.

There's just so much wonderful music to listen to...one of the best things about Our Music, in my humble opinion.

I like L'Orfeo, favola in musica a great deal, indeed.

I'll be picking up The Coronation... and Giulio Cesare, hopefully soon. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for one of my dvd (and opera) favorites: "Rigoletto" starring Placido Domingo! My girl got it for me as a surprise, because she knew how much I love Verdi, but she couldn't keep the cat in the bag!

Florestan

I have this version and it's excellent.

As I explained before to Florestan Andy the Beaux Arts trio has no competition, that set is a absolute must.
The other set is HIP, and totally on its own. 10 cd's for 22,00 euro's is almost a joke.
You need to have both my friend.
