Well, I do declare that a temptation.

I wish they would have made it complete. I recall thinking that many of the most interesting recordings I don't already own are left out. I might still have to get it eventually..

Pulled the trigger on Leslie Howard's complete Liszt set,...I knew sooner or later this would be in my collection.

The best overall deal I saw was on jpc.de.

That box is definitely in my future; but I have held off 1) because of the cost, as well as, 2) already owning the main repertory of Liszt recorded by Howard (the first 15, or so, CDs), and having several alternate recordings of selected works. I see the box as a way to acquire the lesser known pieces I don't have any recordings of.  And, of course, there is my completist tendancy.   ;)

If you don't mind saying, what did you pay?

Actually I'm already into Boulez and Holmboe.  And I'm finding I like Martinu far more than I like Smetana or Janacek. Dvorak too but the difference is not as great...
Personal (dis)likes are beside the point I was trying to make: Smetana is revered as the "father" of Czech national music and nothing by Martinu is even close in popularity to Ma Vlast, Bartered Bride or the "From my Life" quartet. Actually, nothing by Martinu is all that popular. (Maybe the nonet?) Hardly surprising because one has to turn to Milhaud or Villa Lobos to find composers who wrote as much stuff as Martinu, so the little attention gets divided over too many pieces.

All three are indolent compared to Czerny...

I don't see how that is relevant to the earlier discussion, though..

I suppose my initial after (the afore mentioned composers) didn't even weigh into your thought process when you made this post. ::)

Not a bad deal considering how much the set has gone for in the past.

I acquired it a few years ago and the set is overwhelming.  I have only listened to some of the discs.

I have an Amazon credit card and earned enough Amazon points to get it for nothing.   :D :D :D

Too bad Nocturnes isn't included as it was on the original LP. :(

You didn't mention Smetana. The aforementioned composers were Dvorak and Janacek.
