Apologies for such a trivial thread, but being the nosey sod that I am, I sometimes wonder who's sending PMs to whom when I notice people sending messages in the Who's Online part of the forum.

Are you ever curious, or is it just me? ???

All the hot chicks on this site are constantly flirting with me, trying to go out with me, offering me sex, money, CDs, etc. I like to flirt too but sometimes it gets a bit tiresome.

Y'see, I thought they only did that with me. I'm pissed now. >:(

I send my weekly PM to random members of the board. If you have not received it yet, it'd be only a matter of time.

You are such a girl.  ;D

I know. I have a pronounced gossipy ... sorry, feminine side. ;D

Yeah, yeah. That's what they all say to me.

Oh and the other thing that all say to me: "the check is in the mail".  :D

It's just you.  :P  I had never even looked at the "Who's Online" page until I clicked on the link you posted.  Of course, now that you mentioned it, you do have me wondering. . . but I'm sure the curiosity will be short-lived.    ;D

back in the old days this was much easier. i remember the time when we had just elected our first user-mods (even I was one for a while, before resigning  8) not sure how it is now but we used to have a private, hidden area on the board just for mods). whenever you saw someone PMing back then, you always knew it was to either report a post, a thread or, most likely, a user. it was a real police state for a while, and the resultant spats between Herman and a few overly eager 'nightwatchmen' were never less than entertaining. Now, well, who knows? People probably think they're free to PM, but I suspect all their messages are being 'approved' by some bored mod or other. That probably explains why no one ever responds to my PMs  ;D

This all sounds less than 'private'. What exactly do you mean?

Tony, tsk, tsk, tsk! To suspect such an evil deed. I am shocked! I can assure you none of the present four moderators have the power or means to check anybody's PM! I even doubt Rob can do that.

A suggestion: Why don't you come back and re-join us? I'd love to have you around to back up my not always popular moderating decisions!  :-*

...which invites an obvious question: Can (and would) mods mod other mods?

Good heavens, no.  (Whatever for?)

Well, so I decided to click and see what all the online people are doing, for the first time, and this comes up under Internet "spiders":
