And black people are lazy. Obama's the dumb lazy one and Donald is the hard working stable genius. Can't wait to enroll in Tump university so I can hear his lecture on constitutional law.

So hard-working that he needs a big, hearty meal just to get through the day.

Quote from: zamyrabyrd on January 26, 2018, 06:15:55 AMWhy should I feel sorry for laws and practices that did not affect Barack Obama, born in 1961, who already reaped the benefits of the civil rights movement and then some with reverse discrimination? A lot of groups (notice I don't say "race", a very disputed term) like Chinese, Japanese, Jews, Indians (both Natives and from India) and even Italians were discriminated against. They did not resort to violence to get "rights" but rather proved themselves, worked hard and EARNED RESPECT.

My Italian ancestors were not denied the right to vote (as most blacks were until 1965). There were no laws making it illegal for an Italian to marry a white person (as was the case in many jurisdictions until the 1960's). Federal housing assistance programs did not exclude Italians (until the 1960's blacks were disqualified from receiving federally guaranteed mortgages, and federally guaranteed mortgages could not be issued in subdivisions in which black people lived). Home mortgages did not come with a covenant forbidding the owner to sell to an Italian (such covenants forbidding sale to a black were comment throughout the US until the 1970's.) State universities did not explicitly exclude Italians (as blacks were explicitly excluded from state universities in the south). There were no laws requiring Italians to be separated from whites on public facilities such as railroad cars, restaurants, busses and public schools (these law were enforced until the 1960's in the south).

To blame African Americans for the the crushing oppression they experienced (and to some extent continue to experience) in this country is racism, plain and simple.

Bear in mind that, Donald Trump and his father were sued successfully for practicing racial discrimination in housing beyond the outrages that were actually legal.

Recently Oprah saw fit to drag out a rape case from the 1940's to cry about white males. If she had to do it now, it would have been embarrassing that the perpetrators in mixed race rape are almost always the group she identifies with. In any case, it would have been better for her to keep her trap shut.

Speaking as a member of one of those groups--no we did not.  We assimilated, we conformed ourselves to the cultural norm of American society: we made ourselves as close to white Anglo Saxon Protestant as we could.  To the extent  we have not, we are still outsiders.  And blacks and others have a built on obstacle to such assimilation:  it's hard to pass for white if your skin color is perceptibly not.

BTW, the status of white (male) Anglo Saxon (more generally, North Central European) Protestantism as the cultural norm of American society is the reality of what the Left calls White Privilege.  You don't have to conform to the norm if you already are the norm.

It's amusing to watch you claim Trump is not racist and then make it clear how tuned in you are to his core message of white ressentiment.

My Italian ancestors were not given a red carpet in the 1920's and welfare benefits. There was discrimination practiced on them, even if sub rosa, but unlike those placed on Jews like quotas in universities and barring them from certain communities and groups. The KKK is against Koons, Kikes (Jews) and Katholics.

Instead of crying about what happened 60 years ago or more, it is more incumbent to be aware of the anti-white bias that has become a tsunami in universities for instance, itself the result of reverse discrimination that did engender and still is a cause of a great deal of resentment.

About bias in housing, almost any victim group can sue if they don't get their way, although I do think anyone seling a house or renting an apartment has a right to decide who is going to live there. The problem is if they are people of color, they can pull out the "racist" card and sue. Now the "gender" or "sexo-phobe" card can also be used for very profitable lawsuits. Slobs like the Turpin family who trashed every house they ived in would not be good candidates for tenants but at least they don't have the option of suing because whites are not a protected category.

In Barack Obama's case, the pretext for this discussion, he used the advantages given to foreign students (of color, presumably) at Columbia University, having lived in Indonesia, another reason for the obfuscation of his background.

No one is blaming African-Americans for having suffered crushing oppression, surely not the case now, but you might be interested that one of the first slave owners in the US was black himself. To sum up, my Italian ancestors did not have slaves, they worked hard (like the Jews) to earn respect, so they should not have to cower and apologize what some people did to other people generations ago.

There is a classic conservative argument to be pulled out of this (about social programs and how improvements are made to society generally) if that's what you wanted to do. But treating people as (ethnic) groups is the antithesis of conservatism (Donald Dump is no conservative I guess). Maybe conservatism is dead and a party of conspiracy theories, racial animosity and "racial realism" (wink wink) will stand in its stead. I do think your posts sum up what MAGA is all about. Maybe if this is the hill republicans want to stand on they will lose big in the end. You have to offer people something more than resentment.

So what is the alternative, except a true meritocracy? I don't know if you are following what is really happening on college campuses. Reverse discrimination is not enough for some people.

Leftists Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying, both professors of biology, were first vilfied, then attacked, and then more or less asked to leave by the University—all because Bret wouldn't leave campus on the "Day of Departure" to allow it to be occupied solely by people of color. Even the campus police couldn't protect them against threats because the cops were told to "stand down" by University President George "Invertebrate" Bridges.

Alex Jones calls for the arrest of people who oppose Donald Trump

You really took that out of context. At least Jones said that those who espouse murder and violence should be arrested, not killed, as in the words of these clueless women in 2:00. I don't know how that b**ch can just sit there and laugh while saying we should just kill Trump and Pence. But as Jones said, they are not isolated instances.

Now we have something in common: I find this to be a legitimate cause for outrage. So, we don't disagree on everything.  ;) Will Trum personally design the "meritocracy"? I'm willing to do my share as long as there's no hard work involved because I have bone spurs.
