You're right; I retract my characterization.  Sorry, all.

No problem. I had a second thought as well: WTC can indeed be reasonably taken as one in its entirety. I will not object to it anymore.

Your objection had merit.  To me, there is no doubt that each Book is a complete work.  It's just that I always listen to both books in one sitting and think of them as one work.  None of this is written in concrete.

Wow! I listen to four preludes/fugues at a time.

My situation is that I keep wanting to hear more and more and more of them.  The WTC and I only get together when my wife is out of the house or asleep for the night.  Since she sleeps every night, I get plenty of WTC.

She sleeps every night and you don't?  :)

Boulez: Incises
Ligeti: Études  (Sammy, help me! Do all of these count as one work or should I choose a 'book' or a single Etude? I would pick Book I if I had to choose only one book)

I sleep about 3 hours at a time - she's down for about 8 hours.

Go by the book.  Picking a single etude would not be reasonable in my view.

Oh, the music I would listen to if I could get by on 3 hours.

(Anxiously awaiting my next chance to vote.)
