I've seen far worse, but I'm not at all fond of this recent one:

There's just something about it that makes me think of a bargain-basement release you might see in one of the big 3-for-$10 bins at Wal-Mart, like "The Most Relaxing Piano Album Ever" and so forth. ::)

I can understand that reaction.

It's far from being a particularly attractive cover, that's for sure. The shadows are nowhere near that dark in the actual cover, though.

Looks like they used the same hand/arm with four different filters.

It seems a lot of work for such an ugly cover.

But it might have been considered daring in the mid-1950s U.S. when the record was issued.

Took me a minute to figure this cover out, as at first glance it looks like shes got a tiny malformed leg shes kicking in the air. But its actually that shes hugging a pillow the exact same colour as the background with her arm.

Or did everyone else get that immediately?

I didn't really see a leg (now I can, since you mention it ;D), but it did take a second to see that she's holding a pillow. It almost looks like that part of the photo has simply been erased.

This is pretty decent looking!

Too bad the blue Pacific shown in the photo is in Greece.

"Cosi fan(no) tutti". As per the CD cover, I wonder WHAT is it, they all do?  ::)

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Hi, André.

I think it has been a while.

Where have I been? I was about to say, "I've been everywhere, man", but that's a complete lie.

I've been at home, listening to plenty of music. (I'm also buying Blu-rays and DVDs that I don't watch, mainly because I'm listening to music.)

As for not participating in the forum lately, I can't really offer much of an excuse. I'm watching a few threads (this one, one about The Planets, and two others), and apparently none of them had any new posts until I received email notifications for the worst artwork thread a few days ago. So I've hopped back on the forum.

Oh, by the way... (Warning: Self-Promotion Alert)

A few months ago, I was approached by an American radio station for an interview about my Planets website. (For those of you who don't know, I have a website that ranks every available CD of The Planets.)

So, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of The Planets' debut performance, the interview was published in September:

Classical MPR: For Holst's 'The Planets,' one fan's online quest to rank every recording is out of this world

It feels weird to be this noticed. Especially when my Planets website simply started as a response to a question in The Planets thread on this forum.

André

Nice as always to read you - and now, about you, Peter !!

When do you start the Schéhérazade bonanza ?  :D
