I hope the used CD that just arrived is indeed Birtwistle's Earth Dances rather than iTunes' suggested alternative of Healthy Pregnancy in a Box . I don't know how one would get pregnant in a box so presumably that bit would have to happen before entering .

Am I imagining it, but didn't you post some time ago that you were taking a different job that would pay less than your previous job, which wouldn't  allow you to buy so many CDs. Something doesn't add up here.

I am ordering less, and a bit more selectively: mostly new releases or sets when they go on sale.  And I'm ordering much less from Amazon. 
Of course it helps that I have so many recordings already, most reissues just pass me by.

Arrived yesterday. I haven't played it yet but reading the notes by Frank Martin himself this I thought interesting -

When Yehudi Menuhin and Edmond de Stoutz asked me to write for them a concerto for violin and string orchestra I immediately had the inward conviction that after the masterpieces in this field left to us by J S Bach it would hardly be possible for me to do so....

I lamented the original couplings (the 4 Schumann symphonies, which I have multiple times), but it seems Avie recoupled the works soon after the original releases, which I wasn't aware of. Thank you Papy Oli for alerting me to that !
