Well I've already answered this earlier: "I've listened to CD 1 in background mode. Good sound, and the performances seemed clear and pure (FWIW). No booklet, but a CD-ROM which I haven't tried is included."

So the only thing I currently can add to your question is "It's rectangular".

Joking aside, I've listened somewhat more closely to CD nr 2 with (among others) The 4 voice Mass, and it seems like a mighty fine performance. This is the Signum recordings which I'm sure can be found at Gramophones Gramophile, Gramophone liked the series a lot (but then it's British Music).

Well anyway, its very cheap 10 cd's for 25,- euro's, and what you are telling about it, I will put it on my list for next year....

Paray was a legend in Detroit, Harry.  Happy listening!

I thought you are only interested in "rare" recordings?

rare or not, there aren't that many Bruckner's 2nd out there, so I pretty much try to collect every one that's out there.

P.S: It's OOP

There's one with Horst Stein with the Vienna Philharmonic. I have it on order from a seller from Australia on Amazon. Someone that one is highly regarded so we'll see.

Didn't know the Inbal is OOP. SOme of the symphonies are in print so I assumed all of them are in print.

I have the stein one, it's a pretty good performance, Bruckner premiered his 2nd with WP, so it makes a lot of sense to get that recording;

I believe Inbal cycle was also released separately, so, some might be still in print (perhaps with new artworks), but to my knowledge, some(those with the original artworks) are quite scarce nowadays.

just bought this from eBay.com

this is the SECOND Bruckner symphony 7th by Haitink/RCO on Philips.

You probably already have the one with Wiener Symphoniker/Giulini then, if not, that is one you definitely have to have. I bought the one with HoustonSO/Eschenbach recently but found it orchestrally, musically, and sonically uninteresting, so I can't see any reason to have it (except for the fanatical collector, of course). I also have the Stein recording, but I have never really gotten around to listening to the complete disc. Same about the one with the Philharmoniker Hamburg and Simon Young (my only Bruckner recording conducted by a lady!) but haven't really made up my mind about it yet. It has good and less than impressive elements. I see in the meantime they also recorded the 3rd symphony, like the 2nd in the original version. That seems to be the theme of their Bruckner recordings.

I was too lazy to go to the mailbox today, this had apparently come in yesterday (because today is Sunday):

Dunno how "legendary" these recordings are, most of them are rather little known, but Suitner was a very good craftsman who made a number of quite good recordings with both the Staatskapelle Berlin and Dresden. The highlight of this set is a rather massive and merciless performance of Le Sacre du Printemps. Some nice "oldfashioned" Mozart readings in there, too. I found that I actually already had several of the recordings in the box, but it came for just $20 (new). Not too bad for 10 CDs.

I thought I already had this on CD, but found I didn't. This was the first recording I ever heard of the SD and the orchestra's unique sound and playing style immediately fascinated me, despite the somewhat dry and harsh acoustics of the recording which was made live in the Kulturpalast in Dresden, a communist-era building with really bad acoustics (and optics, that always was a given with the buildings from that era in East Germany).

Chailly's recording of Bruckner's Second, with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, is very good, imo.

I have that, too, but haven't gotten around to listenig to that either. Same bout the BP/Barenboim which I have in the complete set - I am not exactly a Barenboim fan, especially not in Bruckner, since I heard several of the symphonies live when they recorded them with him and the performances I heard did not exactly knock me out, but I bought the set in Berlin because it was so cheap and I thought it might not hurt to revisit some of these interpretations at some point. The 9th on the recording is just as dreary as when I heard it live, but the 6th is actually very good, so I think I will listen to the 2nd soon. So far, the one I most reach for (other then the Giulini)  when I want to hear the 2nd is SD/Jochum.

The Giulini is, of course, a classic, and I was fortunate in that it was my first Second ever. There's no better introduction to this wonderful work, I think! I have the SD/Jochum, too. It hasn't stayed with me, so I'll have to re-listen.

Now that has got to be the most interesting purchase I have read on this thread in a very long time.  Cosima worshipped Wagner.  I do wonder, however, how accurate she was in her diaries in describing Wagner's true personality, motivations, talent and any other aspect related to Wagner as a persona.  Should you come across anything interesting or shocking in her diaries Solitary Wanderer please post on the Wagner threads on this forum I would be interested in some feedback related to these diaries.

I have read great swathes of Cosima's diaries, and what made me laugh out loud is when Wagner has to write because Cosima is in the throes of giving birth to Siegfried (6 June 1869). The way he dramatises himself is priceless...
