This had been on my wish list for a while. A reasonable offer came up on Discogs, so I ordered.

I could not resist to add this box with the complete organ works ,in fact from the same seller as "The Dutch Organs" My heart is full but the pockets are empty as it should be. ;)
It is almost shameful how little music I have from Dutch composers.
Hendrik the father of Louis Andriessen was a great improviser.Albert de Klerk whose parents fled from Belgium to Holland  because of  the first worldwar. In Haarlem surprisingly their neighbour was Hendrik Andriessen.Albert de Klerk heard Andriessen play in the church and wanted to learn how to play the organ and improvise.Well he surely succeeded in that.

Yes very much. I only heard him once (ca.1981). For conclusion he played a long improvisation on a Norwegian hymn he didn't know beforehand. The improvisation contained: Prelude, fugue, aria and finale, and sounded very much as if it had been precomposed, and certainly made a big impression on the audience.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

Are you familiar with the organ works from Hendrik Andriessen?

No, I am not much into organ music written after 1750 or so. Albeit with a few exceptions, which are Paul Hindemith, Carl Nielsen and Ptr Eben.

A few days ago, an Amazon.de order to keep me company during the lengthy "shelter in place" that is coming. Most of these items are no longer available direct from Amazon.de - you have to use third party sellers now. I think DE is focusing on homegoods, medical, etc. - you know, really important things.

Just arrived:

In near mint condition, too, surprisingly. Paid less than 5 dollars for it, shipping included. There must be tons of these Bernstein reissue CDs out there, they're always dirt cheap. I'd like to thank San Antone and a few other users for their enthusiasm for this work, which prompted me to want to hear it myself. Very much looking forward to exploring the music, with how much I've been enjoying others of Bernstein's works lately. I'm going to try and listen to the whole thing tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did back when I first acquired the box of LPs back in 1971 when it came out.  That issue had a different cover, which I liked, since it really captured the times:

Yeah, I like that cover a lot too, I think I like it better. They. never put it out on CD with that image, did they? In any case this packaging is pretty nice and it's in good shape so I can't complain.

My parents and aunt still send me money for my birthday which I always spend on presents I can tell them about. This year I bought a selection of Scelsi lossless downloads from different albums to fill a few gaps: 3 hours of choral, solo vocal, solo violin, string quartets and the odd work with organ or electric guitar. I prefer the contrast of a variety of singers for the different pieces rather than just one doing a whole album.

Was this inspired by any work in particular? If so I'd love to hear it.

It was inspired by an Amazon review of something by Boulez. I don't think they liked it  :-\.

I have the Bentzon and the terrific Von Klenau CDs. Great choices André.

Let's see if these can make it across Europe in the current circumstances (estimated delivery date is mid next week—longer than usual—, but if it takes longer or they don't arrive at all, this is understandable).

Folks, I'm sorry to say it but --- in the current circumstances when we are all urged to stay home as much as possible if it's not an essential business, it's a little, how to put it, a little *strange* to act in such a way as to make some people get out of their homes to work in the non-essential chain of delivering CD orders. Sorry again, no offense meant to anyone but I just had to say it.
