Haydn: Nocturne No 8 in G major - The Music Party with Alan Hacker conductor and clarinet soloist

André

Both artists draw wonderfully singing playing from their instruments (1795 Anton Walther fp and 1828 Louis Panormo guitar). Hill draws cimbalom sonorities from the fortepiano that mesh with Prunnbauer's guitar as if it was a single instrument. At other times the sonorities are well differentiated, making Carulli's spirited musical dialogue between them a wonderful experience. Many composers wrote for the guitar but apparently not too many actually played the instrument (Paganini was one). Carulli was a performer, teacher, instrument maker and composer. His complete music for pianoforte and guitar has been recorded (Brilliant, 6 discs). This MDG production is as fine as it gets, a delight from start to finish.

Wonderful works, and my favourite recording of them, by a fair margin.

A very attractive piece...

I am pleasantly surprised by the high quality of these quartets. A major discovery. He wrote 19 of them but apparently RDR recorded only the last 12. I have all the volumes so hours of pleasure awaits me.

Earlier today

The orchestral parts were interesting but the vocal ones were too monotonous and lacking in contrast and melodic content. Not my cup of tea.

...Well, let's hope that the piano parts are as interesting as the orchetsral ones!  :D ;)

Good evening, Andrei! Glad to read that things have evolved so positively on the health front!!!!  :)

Symphonic Addict

Symphony No. 1. Extremely vigorous work, perhaps too much so. I did like it, yet it could be considered like "vulgar". Anyway, the 2nd movement, with its exotic and sensuous tinges, was the highlight to me.

The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.
