There's this femme fatale I'm keen on who I've asked to see, but isn't agreeing as yet, if ever- gorgeous girl, dazzling red hair, great personality, very intelligent. I want her to go for a good meal and have got one or two things for her I think she might like, but she's none too forthcoming. How'm I going to win this perfect goddess over? Any (kind-of sensible) suggestions here?

Woops! You have no chance at all!  ;D
"Ja, sehr komisch, hahaha,
ist die Sache, hahaha,
drum verzeihn Sie, hahaha,
wenn ich lache, hahaha! "

Try to be what you are, not a pose, but the honest Sean, that is willing to see the other side, the woman.
Don't be artificial, or over intellectual, be a man, be what you really are, let her be priority, and not your fanatical carpenters mentality.

Harry

It is well meant Sean, remember that. :)

Que

Don't talk to her about Nietsche.
Better still: show in interest in what she has to say and let her do the talking.

Sean

Duly noted.

(By the way, everything Nietzsche wrote after BT is pretty dodgy.)

Benny

A chicken and the egg story. She's got the look, but who is she? What does she like? Where does she hang out? Do we have anything in common?

How can you know the answers to these questions without going out with her? How will you succeed to go out with her without knowing the answers to these questions? ;) That is the question!

Is there a way you can get to know her a bit more before asking her out?

Talk to her about the carnal references in the Rite of Spring as they relate to the emergence of Dionysian reality in the logic of the movement of material, transcending formal frames and the idea of Apollonian art, justifying the Dionysian obliteration of any rationale.

Explain to her that in sex or other Dionysian experiences, there's a point where the intuitive reality takes over on the outward level, and critical distance is negated.  Further explain that you'd like to enter a world with her comprising the bliss consciousness of Dionysian inner form.

Sean

Cheers Benny- good point, though in this case we do know each other...I just want her to give me a chance...

Why not just tell her you wish to be passionately in love with her. But do not elaborate on the etymology of that word!
Quotec.1175, "sufferings of Christ on the Cross," from O.Fr. passion, from L.L. passionem (nom. passio) "suffering, enduring," from stem of L. pati "to suffer, endure," from PIE base *pei- "to hurt" (cf. Skt. pijati "reviles, scorns," Gk. pema "suffering, misery, woe," O.E. feond "enemy, devil," Goth. faian "to blame"). Sense extended to sufferings of martyrs, and suffering generally, by 1225; meaning "strong emotion, desire" is attested from c.1374, from L.L. use of passio to render Gk. pathos. Replaced O.E. þolung (used in glosses to render L. passio), lit. "suffering," from þolian (v.) "to endure." Sense of "sexual love" first attested 1588; that of "strong liking, enthusiasm, predilection" is from 1638. The passion-flower so called from 1633.
"The name passionflower -- flos passionis -- arose from the supposed resemblance of the corona to the crown of thorns, and of the other parts of the flower to the nails, or wounds, while the five sepals and five petals were taken to symbolize the ten apostles -- Peter ... and Judas ... being left out of the reckoning." ["Encyclopedia Brittanica," 1885]

Do not make getting her to be your whatever to be the goal itself. You may not be right for her and she may not be right for you. Get to know her and let he know about the real you. If a big part of the real you is in fact philosophy and philosophizing, do not get out of your way to hide that! Just don't make it the focal point. Just be geniune. Certainly do not overly strategize!

QuoteCertainly do not overly strategize

Yes, good one that. Strategies are only okay when they're in line with whatever's needed at the time, which dissolves them.

Ditto.

Just spend time with her & listen to her thoughts-- get to know what her own experiences are & take your time.  They will be different from yours to be sure, but that's the beauty of it all.  Take your time and set no goals.

Good luck!  :)

Go to Guess Jeans outlet and puck up a pair of fashion super  low rise jeans anda   sporty pull over shirt and a  neck chain while you are at it.
that should show her you a  HOT guy ;)
and give her that shy look.
