Couperin, Francois - Harpsichord Livres w/ Carole Cerasi on a variety of historic harpsichords which are beautifully illustrated in the excellent booklet accompanying the 10-disc box.  I was stimulated to listen after a number of posts on Christophe Rousset performing the same works; unfortunately, I've not heard his set and it was not available on Spotify for an audition by me - several reviews are attached of Cerasi w/ an excellent one by MusicWeb - includes comparisons between Cerasi, Baumont, & Borgstede (the last two sets I owned previously to Cerasi but culled out after listening to her) - the Rousset recordings seen to be long gone except for expensive 'used' copies or likely downloads; the reviewer in MusicWeb states that the he is still the 'gold standard' for him, SO, if there are any suggestions for hearing Rousset perform these Couperin works, please post; otherwise, I'll be quite happy w/ Carole Cerasi.  Dave :)

This music brightens up my life considerably. A very fine release by Toccata.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Thanks Traverso for the eBay link - did a similar search and found an English version out of Indiana (don't know if it's the same individual posting in different languages but the offer is the same, i.e. $100 USD plus shipping).  A large box w/ 4 double jewel boxes containing 11 discs I presume - storage a big consideration for me; the Cerasi offering is an 1 1/2 inch box w/ 10 sturdy cardboard sleeves, again a consideration for some?  As to the cost, $105 (w/ shipping stated) unless I want to 'make an offer' (rarely deal w/ eBay so not sure how these offers go?), a good chunk of money for a used box that might contain one or more 'defective' discs (I'm sure returnable).  BUT, I would still like to hear a couple of the books and compare to Cerasi - my ears are ordinary and not uniquely discerning if the performances are 'close'.  Thanks again.  Dave :)

The price is very fair, you will not find soon a more attractive one.
It takes up some space but so do our egos! :)
Buying on ebay is not that difficult, although a paypal account is often necessary, but that gives you the guarantee that if there are problems you will get your money back.
The seller in my link is in any case a reliable one.
I would say, don't hesitate and get this set, it is the most beautiful thing there is at the moment.
It will give you many hours of delight.
There is a booklet with it that I do not have, but I was able to buy it very cheaply, so that reimburses a lot.
The used Harpsichords are also first class as are the recordings.

Amazon cost 50 more !

It's completely incomprehensible why it hasn't been reissued....

Harmonia Mundi prefers issuing a new recording of The Art of the Fugue with accordion!

This may a good and affordable way to sample the cycle:

Wordsworth: Symphony No.2 - a work which continues to grow on me. As with the music of Rubbra it has an understated power which I find affecting:
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

An absolute disaster in my opinion were the Dowland songs with Sting, but it's definitely different, ahem....
