Fibich, Zdenek (1850-1900) - Chamber Works w/ the performers on the cover art; the first disc is a MP3 DL and the last has trios w/ two other composers.  I own just 10 or so Fibich CDs (the rest are orchestral works); despite being short-lived dying at 49 years, he was a prolific composer (list HERE); quoted below just a short extract from his Wiki article, much more at the link.  Dave :)

QuoteZdeněk Fibich was a Czech composer of classical music. That Fibich is far less known than either Dvořák or Smetana can be explained by the fact that he lived during the rise of Czech nationalism within the Habsburg Empire. While Smetana and Dvořák gave themselves over entirely to the national cause, consciously writing Czech music with which the emerging nation strongly identified, Fibich's position was more ambivalent. This is lovely stuff - but it's really consonant. Like, no scrunchyness at all really. I'm pretty conscious of this because I was also listening to the free track on this new Isaac CD, and the way he uses dissonances is really impressive - I've still not downloaded the whole CD

Gallus a century after Isaac - that's what happened to music in the 16th century I guess. I'm a 15th century kind of guy myself.

CD 12:

Handel
Concerto grosso in b minor, Op. 6 № 12 (H. 330)
Music for the Royal Fireworks (H. 351)
Water Music Suite № 1 in F (H. 348)
Water Music Suite № 3 in G (H. 350)
Water Music Suite № 2 in D (H. 349)

And, at the end I went back to hear the b minor Concerto grosso again. Did the tonal variety in the fire-&-water pieces help? Is the b minor simply better than the musical mean of the Op. 6? Whatever the reason, I certainly like the b minor very well.  And obviously (as I've bought the box, I shall in time go back to the rest of the Op. 6.

The 3rd is Erdmann's most imposing symphonic work. The slow movement is particularly memorable, a grave, melancholy utterance of great poignancy. After the premiere in 1951 Ernst Krenek declared it « the most beautiful adagio composed in the 20th century ».

Klenau: Symphony No. 1

Here there is very fine music. It could meander a bit in some passages, but it's undeniable how good it is. From the very visionary beginning I was hooked.

Part of the tragedy of the Palestinians is that they have essentially no international support for a good reason: they've no wealth, they've no power, so they've no rights.

The French Suites

Nice interpretation and unique approach. I believe that the tuning was a little lowered. Love the disc.
