Just bought:

I initially was going to go with the Gringolts Quartet, but the Leipziger Streichquartett sounded even more enticing to me.

I love those recordings.  It was not only my introduction to those works, but my introduction to what would become one of my favorite ensembles. 8)

Actually, come to think of it, it would make my list for my top 100 recordings.

Great to read, Dave. I own their Beethoven and Schubert sets (plus their Berg recording). I'm definitely looking forward to hearing these recordings. They're an excellent quartet.

Landed today. Looking forward to wading in ... but mildly disappointed at the plastic clam-shell.

I can't find a good enough image, but I just bought Jochum's Bruckner on DG in three newly remastered hybrid SACD box sets via Tower Records Japan. Looking forward to it as I prefer Jochum's DG cycle to the EMI one.

I have the same preference for the DG set

8) I have the older set but I when I was doing a Bruckner Jochum search via Tower Records Japan website, I ran across these three volumes. Looking forward to the remastered sound!

In what ways is Jochum DG better than Jochum EMI? I have the latter, and therefore never really bothered with the former.
One set per conductor is usually enough for me. The only exceptions in my CD library are Karajan's multiple Beethovens and Bernstein's two Mahler cycles.

I believe there to be better orchestra playing for one thing. There is also a greater intensity overall in the DG set. The EMI set does have the better fidelity, but I'm hoping with this new remastering, it'll leave the EMI in the dust. I generally like Jochum's earlier recordings more than his later ones anyway. I just felt that overall the EMI set didn't offer an improvement to an already well-established cycle. With Bernstein, it's different. There are many differences between his Mahler Columbia and DG performances for example that it justified having both cycles. But with Jochum's Bruckner on EMI, it felt like an unnecessary project altogether.

Thanks. I have enough other cycles that this would be a back burner item for me
[Besides Jochum EMI, I've got Wand, Skrow., Karajan, Chailly, Haitink, Inbal, and Celi.'s incomplete set. ]

Yeah, you're definitely stocked up on Bruckner cycles at the moment. :) I bought this Japanese issued Jochum DG cycle only for the remastered sound. This cycle has become a favorite of mine over the past few years.

There is already a really great depth to the sound stage with the magnificent brass and woodwinds front and center.  A new remaster might sound really incredible!  I look forward to your report.  I don't think I would repurchase all of them, but the 8th and the 9th is a strong yes if the sound is greatly improved.

I'm hoping for a good remaster. I'll definitely let you know!

When I rip these box sets to my computer, this will be the cover I'm going to use since I can't find good ones of each individual release:
