Your intervention is readily accepted but it seems to me that certain members here are more valued than others.

That seems to be true,so we must adept

Just for the record, I have copied all of the recent posts on this subject as a relevant post of mine has been deleted.

Justice, it appears here, depends upon who you are.

Agreed, so let us hope that others agree also. Good night.

One of the very best.  Perhaps the best.  Really, a remarkable recording from Mr Wit.

The sense of grievance is real, I don't doubt, although the subject may not seem important to others. I just hope people involved take a deep breath, and we don't loose any valued members over this kerfuffle.

I am currently reviewing the Annie Fischer cycle of these works.
As I am more inclined towards period instruments in these works I readily acknowledge this suggestion.

There is a sense of justice involved here [behind the scenes].  ;)

I must say I appreciate your posts here.

Again the Serkin box: half of this CD is Tashi playing Webern chamber music, the other half is Serkin playing solo piano music by Takemitsu. Apparently that's how the original LP was issued

It's not inducing a headache, but I can't say I'm enjoying the Takemitsu. So probably not a composer I'll follow up on for now.

ETA: maybe I spoke to soon. I like "Far Away".

One of my most cherished concert memories is seeing Wit/Warsaw do Mahler 3 live. Best orchestral playing/balance I have ever seen. I wish Naxos had decided that that 8th was the beginning of a new cycle recording project, rather than the end of an old one.

Wit is one of the greatest living conductors.  I would very much enjoy the opportunity to hear him in concert.  Repertoire doesn't matter.  (Okay, Lutoslawski, Janacek, and something 19th Century would be preferred, but I'd take anything.)

Best I have seen live (not as extensive a group as many GMG vets but that does include Colin Davis, Dutoit, Belohlavek, V. Jurowski, V. Petrenko, N. Jarvi, Dudamel, van Zweden, Luisi, and YNS).

What's remarkable about him in person is the super old-school podium demeanor. Left hand is a fist that marks downbeats. Right hand counts 1-2-3-4 in a diamond with the baton (or without baton in the Mahler 3 finale). Nothing else. Nothing else. He must be an absolute terror of a dictator in rehearsal.

I'm keeping my powder dry for that box, but I won't deny that it's a bit of a struggle. 8)
