Hello all,

Would you PLEASE stop posting only *album photos.  My problem:  My Mac blocks certain photos...not totally certain as to why, but I suspect that it has something to do with either cookies or geo-location things associated with them?  Not a computer expert.  I'd like to know what you are listening to.  :)  I do enjoy exploring music and am happy to entertain suggestions from our fellow posters who obviously care about music and spend a lot of time exploring and listening to it.

*Not just here but elsewhere.

Thank you.   :)

Driving to and from a wedding today,  the White Album, Band on the Run, Procol Harum debut, The Pretty Things' SF Sorrow, The Monkees' debut.

Recently I revisited the six albums of Norwegian band Bel Canto :

White-Out Conditions (1988)
Birds of Passage (1990)
Shimmering, Warm & Bright (1992)
Magic Box (1996)
Rush (1998)
Dorothy's Victory (2002)

Listening to these again gave me nostalgic feel of the much happier times of early 2000's when I discovered this band. Anneli Drecker's voice is wonderful.  0:)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

As much as I adore Love Is The Drug and a number of their other singles, Roxy's albums have yet to click. I will keep trying as I know many of them are highly regarded.

Heard an anecdote recently about someone meeting Joni Mitchel in an elevator as she was looking at at the finished cover design for Hejira. She turned to the stranger and asked "Does this look like I've got a dick?"

Yeah, now try and unsee that.

Rick Rubin knows his stuff.  And the engineering is a master class in non-audiophilia, being clearly optimized for how almost all consumers will actually listen to the music, in my case earbuds.

I find that I have a hard time playing some of my rock/pop music on my good stereo system as it shows exactly what you are talking about!  ::)

Aargh, thank you so much!  Probably my favourite Joni album, too.  Luckily, mine is a digital download, so I can perhaps do a bit of editing - so each time I look at it, I can think "That's the one I photoshopped the dick out of."

An interesting lady is Sinéad O'Connor or should I say Shuhada Sadaqat. Her brother is a well known author and broadcaster here too. They obviously share a common creative gene.

Dead Can Dance: Spiritchaser

This album defies categorisation but that is no matter. The question is more how to describe their particular brand of music making and presentation. The foundation is basically electronica but it is much more than that. There are many musical genres and styles overlapping here. This fusion of styles adds to the overall interest and excitement of the music making. Both of the vocal elements work very well both individually and together. This vocal element is very atmospheric and very important, if indeed not crucial, in the presentation of this music. I thoroughly enjoyed it all!
