'They' - do you mean family/friends or men, and in what way are the 'they' superior?
Family/friends are the superior ones.
They are superior because f*** society, you are just a cog in the machine to society and they don't know you.
Family/friends actually see you as a real person and can appreciate you as such.

You seem to despise marriage, but can you have any sort of family without it?

You seem to despise society, but can you have any sort of family promotion and protection without it?

Despise doesn't feel like the correct word.

Being the man in a marriage sometimes means being viewed as a walking ATM, that's what I don't like. Being valued only for what you give is unfortunate, in line with the Chris Rock quote. It's avoidable- either marry someone valuable (someone who doesn't view men as such) or don't marry. Some people are lucky and get into a marriage that is not despise-able at all, it can actually be a great thing.

Society doesn't know you personally, so no need to want to impress them. Not sure what "family promotion" is, but for family protection, that is cops, and how well can they actually protect you? What's more likely to protect you is yourself, rather than cops.

I saw an article on the CNN web site about how there are some crazy people who still use Apple EarPods and how the reporter tried using EarPods to see just how crazy and unhinged these people really are. Huh? I still use my EarPods most of the time. I don't have to worry if they are charged, and I've learned how to deal with wires.

I recently read Good Omens and thought I would share an amusing quote about heaven and hell, for context Crowley is a demon and Aziraphale is an angel:

Quote"Listen," said Crowley desperately, "how many musicians do you think your side have got, eh? First grade, I mean." Aziraphale looked taken aback. "Well, I should think—" he began. "Two," said Crowley. "Elgar and Liszt. That's all. We've got the rest. Beethoven, Brahms, all the Bachs, Mozart, the lot. Can you imagine eternity with Elgar?" Aziraphale shut his eyes. "All too easily," he groaned.

I'm happy to be an ATM. I'm kind of not married and kind of not not married. That One reading her AARP magazine has been here for over 40 years and she'll probably come over and hug me like I was a friendly furry animal. I think I'll buy her a stock later this week because it makes me happy. I was thinking something along the lines of a BDC would be suitable, but I'm open to suggestions.  :P

Whenever I hear or read that the Bible says this or that, my first reaction is to ask: In what language? Many, if not most, people quoting it can't even name the languages it was originally written in, let alone understand them.

My Uncle Brian could, as he was a Bible scholar who presented at international conferences. However I couldn't understand much of what he said in English :-[ .

After multiple years of theological seminary, I probably have enough grasp of the original languages to be able to confirm that most modern formal equivalence translations can be trusted to represent the original meaning of the text.

The problem with most folk speaking about the Bible, is that they don't have much idea about what it actually says, or how to approach it.
"A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people ... then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbour — such is my idea of happiness"
