Another terrific find! I'm not familiar with this composer, but this memorable, playful, passionate work must be one of his best creations.

I agree - given Coleridge-Taylor's age when he wrote these works they are impressively confident and musically interesting works and well-played here.  Of course his talent was recognised early on and he was financially supported to go to the RCM and Stanford regarded him as one of his most able students.  The curious truth is that his music never really "developed" in the way that say RVW or Holst's did to create a genuinely individual compositional voice so that ultimately he remained a very talented 2nd tier composer.

Interesting:  when I look at your posting, the top image shows the complete organ music, but the bottom one has a null sign on a blue background saying "Stop!  This image was hot linked".  What the heck does that mean?

Here:  Started off with Sibelius' first symphony with Gibson followed by a link to a work by Kenneth Fuchs called "An American Place" which I quite enjoyed.  :)  Thank you @Daverz .

Ballets Russes opening night for their 2nd season in 1910...

Schumann (orch. by a phalanx of Russians): Carnaval
Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade

My guess is they were in this order, partly because of length and partly because it was Scheherazade that was a huge hit in Paris.

It was a big production with highly colourful sets and costumes. The exhibition here had quite a few costumes from these two ballets and some of the Scheherazade ones made it to the website: https://digital.nga.gov.au/archive/exhibition/balletsrusses/default.cfm%3fmnuid=3&galid=5.html

I was very struck by how well the orchestrated Carnaval comes across as ballet music. Actually it's better to my ears than the orchestrated Chopin for Les Sylphides. And no complaints about the 1959 recording used here. Scheherazade is less traditional dance and more full of exotic colour.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

Is the 2nd picture not visible? The picture of the organ, linked from a site on Antegnati organs appears normally in my own browser. But I could replace or delete it. Some sites do not like their pictures linked....

EDIT: replaced it. Hope you all can now see this beautiful ancient organ!

This finally arrived today.
Vaughan Williams: 'Job - A Masque for Dancing' (1930)
I have been critical of Andrew Manze's Vaughan Williams symphonies cycle but this sounds like an eloquent performance so far:
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

Just arrived and this time in good condition.

Balkan - Honey & Blood should have been in the box too, so I'll have to wait for that.
