I googled it*.  This is worse. The Mann cover at least has an obvious connection to the contents.

*or more precisely amazoned it.

The AMG review of "Oil and Vinegar" is amusing.

I know Philippe Petit considers himself an artist, and takes inspiration from music, architecture, and theater. He collaborated live with concert pianist Évelyne Crochet, with particular interest and use of Bach and Satie's music. So, it might not be too unusual having Bach paired with high-wire Petit.

Petit's book Creativity: The Perfect Crime is an interesting read from an interesting individual.

Those are both distinctly not good. And in weirdly similar ways.

They're both from the same label, Velat Luna.

O Fortuna, velut Luna statu variabilis, semper crescis aut decrescis; vita detestabilis nunc obdurat et tunc curat ludo mentis aciem, egestatem, potestatem dissolvit ut glaciem.

O Fortune, Like the moon You are changeable, ever waxing and waning. Hateful life, first oppresses, and then soothes as fancy takes it; poverty, and power it melts them like ice

Carmina Burana definitely is one of those work where you get quite weird cd/LP covers. Not ugly per se ...but quite a range of styles and inspirations....Here a few that I consider as to be "bad".

My favourite of the bad Carmina Burana covers is this 1994 Chailly release:

I like this cover a lot. Stylish and good colors. However, it is unsuitable for Carmina Burana. I remade the cover with more suitable content for the cover art:

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Or you could have just considered how there's an entire series of music with the same cover. It's supposed to be basic. That's the point. Have you never seen the Penguin Classics books?

It's the famous logo of the His Master's Voice label, on which I suppose that Carmina Burana was originally released. I don't think it qualifies even remotely for a bad art cover, let alone the worst.

That's ridiculously bad considering how good the other versions of this release are, but if you want to have a new non-painting cover art for the re-release, how about this:

No, I have not seen. Penguin Classics books are probably unknown in Finland. People from other countries keep talking about them, but I don't know them.

Not exactly on topic, but there's no thread for stupid cover errors.

At least they spelled it correctly 50% of the time.

OMG! Was this actually physically released on the market? Its stupidity defies belief.
