Quote from: Brian on April 10, 2024, 06:01:45 AMTruthfully, this is not the "worst," there is clearly much worse in this thread, but I just want to point out the cheeky praise text of "perhaps the best"! Maybe everybody should put that on the cover of their albums. Just every single CD out there saying they are "perhaps the best" one.  ;D  ;D

Yes, that can make it a challenge to stand out ;) .

OMG say this is not true!

The Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra – PLAY! A Video Game Symphony Live featuring Commodore 64 Medley, Castlevania, Sonic The Hedgehog, Chrono Cross, Silent Hill 2, Halo, Kingdom Hearts, Battlefield, World Of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, Guild Wars :o

Good Lord!  :o I can make out the JSB and the Best of Classics, but what's that under Bach?  S something or other and maybe organ works?  ???  :(

This is probably one of those covers you need to rotate in a specific angle in respect of the lighting in order to make the light reflect from the text in a way that makes it easier to read. In other words the text reflects light differently from the rest of the artwork. I have some CDs like that and you can make the texts unreadable or readable just rotating the CD. One off my CD even has WHITE text on WHITE background! It is still readable, because the background is more "matte" than the text which is more "glossy."
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

That's fabulous.

It reminds me of Japanese pop compilations with names like Super Happy Fun Best Ever! etc.

Yikes!

I can make out the "J" on the left, and "BA" on the tree, and that's about it.

I think I might need stronger glasses.

Update: After staring at the cover for a while, I'm pretty sure it says "Johann Sebastian Bach". Maybe.

Update 2: Does that say "Best Of Classics" at the bottom?

I found the album on Discogs:

Johann Sebastian Bach – Best Of Classics: Berühmte Orgelwerke / Famous Organ Works II

At least we now know what it says on the cover.

Here's the (actually helpful) back cover:

PILZ was a very cheap German lable (ca 1990) , sometimes available in supermarkets.
Discogs has a great selection of them.

Sounds like Brilliant Classics, which started out (1995) as a very cheap Dutch label, only available in drugstores and supermarkets.  ;D

Not to be confused with the 1970s Krautrock Pilz label 8) .

I have a few Pilz CDs. They were all bought at a supermarket for $2 each. Pilz is the very definition of cheap 'n' cheerful. (The playing is OK, the sound is OK. It's all just OK.)

Now, I don't know anything about the story in the music of Braunfels's Don Juan, but I have a feeling it doesn't involve naked ladies covered in mud.

Madiel

The art is not specific to that album. It's part of a Braunfels series.

But naked ladies are relevant to the Don Juan story.
It's only the mud that's not.

And if there weren't any mud we would be revisiting previous ruckuses on the forum.

Perhaps the recorded sound is muddy?

Not the picture itself, nothing inappropriate shown there.  If it inspired misogynistic remarks, then yes.

Isn't she just supposed to be blending in with the painting behind?

I literally talked about a picture that was different to what is actually shown there.
