Symphonic Addict

Enescu's music for cello and piano: Two cello sonatas (in F minor and in C major); Allegro in F minor; Nocturne et Saltarello

Astonishing both the music and the performances. These four works are seriously brilliant. I mean, truly remarkable all around.

The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.

Quote from: Brian on April 11, 2024, 10:11:28 AMTrifonov's Symphony adagio transcription is very excitingly played, but I don't know how to feel about the virtuoso filigree additions he made in the climaxes to give the pianists more notes.

My thoughts exactly when I first heard it, but with repeated listening the whole thing became so seductive, the reservation faded into insignificance.

Here:

Piano Sonata No.1 in A major

Such lean, self-contained music, not a hint of anything that isn't there by right serving the structural/expressive purpose of the piece. The integration of themes is a joy to witness. Krasnenker's playing seems to naturally highlight these qualities. Compulsive listening.

Excellent. This is the release of Stockmeier's integral, which has got the best sound, alert @Papy Oli.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

Thank you @premont I did bookmark a couple of copies on Ebay for reference at the time of your last mention of this version.

With Foccroulle & Beekman already on the go and also Fagius in the listening pile, Stockmeier will be for a bit later I think  (not to mention the Alain French organ works box too!!).
