Not that the board needs a jump start or anything...

But I'd like to see the return of David Ross.

Where die he go? Probably to go and listen to his spineless recordings of Sibelius...  ;D

Yes, we must get Nigel back. Perhaps M too, yes he might have upset a few but I enjoyed his informative posts.  :-\

M is still busy discussing WWII, etc. etc. etc. at rmcr

But I agree - he was a very knowledable poster, and really a good bloke too.

You must be out of your mind saying that Que, M was definitively not a nice person, and I wonder that you have forgotten his aggresive and arrogant posts.
No I don't want him back, no I don't.

I agree with you Harry, we already have some back that were as bad or not worse than M was.....

No, I haven't forgot, Harry. :)
And I did not imply that I want him back - so please keep your shirt on! ;D
But besides the serious flaws you mentioned, he had a lot of interesting things to tell about music.
And he had a soft spot too - as I discovered in some direct contact with him.

Sorry, Harry - but No.  The real Nigel has not returned (as far as I know.)  I thought we had clarified: I am the surreal Nigel, and a Cat of completely different color.

I also would like to echo Que's last remark.  I too found M very approachable in private communications.  Yes, he was/is as abrasive as all hell - but he knew/knows a hell of a lot ... and he often made me laugh.  Nobody could puncture pretensions quite as quickly (and brutally) as M - and on occasion, one has to say, it was well deserved.  Watching him go ballistic could be very entertaining.

Not for some people who felt obliged to leave the Forum.
What use is knowledge if it is applied with such abusive force.
No, and again no, against such obnoxious people like M.
You all forget the negative things about this guy, no good of him could compensate for the pain he caused.

Except him being banned.  0:)

I for one am not looking for that type of entertaiment.   I only know that over the last few months since all those aggresive immature types were gone the forum had a nice feel to it....the energy seemed to be constant....no anger,  no fighting...no spikes...

Harry, I am not wishing to make a major point here, and I do understand (I think) your attitude.  I was on the receiving end of M's bile more than once, and it certainly wasn't a comfortable experience.  However I was prepared to co-exist with him, for some of the genuine insights which he brought.

I would also very gently like to remind you that it was M's banishment which finally triggered the real Nigel's departure from the forum.  I am only surmising - and he is not here to confirm or deny - but, based on his final post, I got the distinct impression that Nigel felt M's banishment to be evidence of a small-mindedness which he didn't want to be part of.

M Forever can be reached via email through RMCR (link appears earlier in this thread). I emailed him recently and he was most helpful and knowledgable as usual, but not abusive.

Ever notice in high school that the bullies weren't mean when others weren't around? I think there's something similar with M.

You mean "is" not "was" right?

If so, I agree.  :)

It was Nigel's choice to go, I respect that. But it was not small mindedness on the part of GMG members or our Dungeon master, that forced Nigel to go. That was his interpretation of the situation, and was a flawed one IMO.
