That and the other 4 Honegger symphonies performed by the Czech Philharmonic with Serge Baudo conducting were all classics!

Highly recommended!

Outstanding release. I've been listening to this a lot since it came out.

Enjoying these Saeverud symphonies very much. Yet another composer whose work I need to rotate more often.

It seems that this symphony has a great many admirers, which seems about right to me. Revised and finally 'completed' by one of Saeverud's students, it is probably the symphony with most interest for me after #8.

So far.

Have revisited 2 - 5, 8 and 9 so far, and look forward to listening to the whole available streaming cycle over the weekend. Can't see #1 yet, though 🤔

Well, I enjoyed this quite a bit (even the Sonata for Violin and Piano, a genre I usually steer clear of). But the highlight IMHO is the late, dense Nonet for Strings. A work I'll revisit soon, I think.

I didn't realize you were a fan of Copland's music, Rafael. Interesting to say the least.

Nice. Also really appreciate his two symphonies (particularly #1, 'The Bell Reef'), Concertos for Violin and Orchestra and Double Bass and Orchestra, and his DOPO for Cello and String Orchestra....

Albéniz: Piano Sonatas 3-5

I wonder what happened with the first two piano sonatas, I only see a movement from an apparently first sonata. Anyway, I'm wholly impressed by the beauty of these three works, above all the sonatas 3 and 4. There's some rich, eloquent lyricism accompanied by really lovely melodies that linger in the mind. Remarkable finds.

The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.
