You do not make it sound very appealing!  :)

Ah, I meant it churns and pounds along in a good way ;) .

Yes, I had to actually buy it!

Another from the still largely unpacked suitcase:

One of the prettiest lute duets recording I know.
This is a reissue by Glossa (with full notes) of a recording by Harmonia Mundi.

Schoenberg: Piano Concerto, Op. 42
Peter Serkin (piano)

I like Serkin's deft way in this work, which for all its Classical overtones and largely strict tone rows, seems like a colourful character recounting passing thoughts and memories over a beer, flitting from one mood to the next with restless abandon, as the fermented barley and his own urges gradually slip into the fuel tank too.

Good afternoon all,

Spurred by @Luke 's article posted in the Phil Lesh thread, dug up some Havergal Brian.

Bach

Partitas 1-2 & 3

This is the first recording Gustav Leonhardt made of these beautiful partitas.

There is also a second recording with better sound and some differences in execution but I like both equally.

This the second recording

One of the best HB releases and the Cooke is very fine as well.

I'd forgotten how good Godfried Devreese's First Symphony ('Gothic') is. Like Sternefeld's First Symphony it combines an epic defiance with a redemptive ending. Some reviews are v negative about the playing of the Moscow SO but that did not stop me enjoying the Symphony No.1 or the rather moving 'In Memoriam'
+ nice cover painting by the Anglo-Belgian James Ensor - one of my favourite painters.
