I like those Duphly performances! :)

Once upon a time a French forum member dismissed that positive sentiment out of hand, only to retract that dismissal once he had actually heard the recordings...  8)

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

An old-style, nice playing with an ancien régime feeling. Gorgeous sound of the instrument.

Spotted Horses

Revisited Martinu's Sinfonia Concertante for two orchestras, and followed it with the Concerto Grosso for Chamber Orchestra (which features a concertante piano).

All I can say is "wow." The middle movement of the Concerto Grosso is particularly powerful.

It is amazing that these two work have apparently not been recorded before (or since).
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

Rousset recorded a double album that is also worth hearing, though it is very personal, very Rousset.

Quote from: Madiel on November 08, 2024, 04:35:37 AMWell, I couldn't go because I was at the opening night of the musical I've been repetiteur for, and it was an outstanding success with all 3 published reviews full of praise. So I wasn't exactly having a bad time.
Congrats!

Nice Work If You Can Get It, which is a 2012 reworking/pastiche of Gershwin musicals. Very silly, very funny romantic farce.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.
