Deutsche Barock Kantaten

Traverso

I just heard that Lindenberg, the producer of the Bach Bram Beekman recordings passed away after an illness. However, I can't find anything about it on the internet.
I knew there were plans to reissue the Bach series with Bram Beekman, he told me so a while ago, it's news to me that he has passed away.
Hopefully someone else will take on the task of realizing the initial plan, whether or not as a download.

Ravel: String Quartet in F major

A predictably fine (live) performance of this restlessly intense and beautiful jewel.

Marc Lachat, Oboe.

Remarkable.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

Very sad. He really had a sense of quality.

Plans...plans... that's all we hear about on the possible reissue of Beekman's and Kooiman's (Coronata) Bach cycles... Meanwhile the window of opportunity to (re)issue anything on disc is rapidly closing...

Fingers  crossed...

Arnold: Symphony No.5

I seem to enjoy the most, Arnold's symphonies conducted by the composer himself. The bitter/sweet 5th does not sound at all fragmented under Arnold's direction which is a criticism I sometimes find with his symphonies. The twist and turns of the 5th held me enthralled.

Would be remiss not to mention the couplings as they are so good. I love all the Dances be it English, Scottish or as here Cornish. Each a nugget of creativity and no two alike. The musical equivalent of a short story written by a great novelist.

Arnold lets rip with 'Peterloo'. A depiction of a tragic historical event.
You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.
