I've spoken with Bachtoven through PM on the Steve Hoffman Forum, which he is a regular contributor and he said he's getting tired of forums in general and doesn't see the point in conversing with strangers about music any longer.

To each their own of course, but everyone is a stranger at some point in our lives. Like the time I met that retired Korean physics professor at a used CD store and we hit it off immediately as we both loved classical music. Anyway, this man was virtually a stranger to me and after talking to him for around thirty minutes or so, he became a friend. I think it's easy to feel overwhelmed, especially if you're dealing with life stuff, but also a member of multiple forums on top of all of this --- I mean something has to give at some point for sure.

I think he will return in time or whenever he feels the incessant urge to share with everyone his passion for this music. This is something that no one will be able to keep quiet for long.

I don't know about him, of course, but personally I think that the regular-posting GMGers are no stranger to me anymore, not only the few whom I've met either personally or on video conference, but also those whom I've never seen or heard. The mere fact that I share with them a passion for music in general and for some specific composers, genres and eras in particular makes them my friends and I relish the opportunity to be daily in touch with them --- all the more so as my family, while in no way hostile or indifferent to "classical" music, are very far from being as passionate, not to say obsessed, about it as I am. In this respect, GMG is the best thing that ever happened to me and I will be here "till death do us part", which I hope it's very far in the future.

Yes, I think forums are a great way to share our love for this music with like-minded people. GMG has certainly occupied a good portion of my own time, but the greatest reward are not only meeting these people with whom you have so much in common with, but the fact that they become friends. This is something that no dollar amount can buy nor is it anything that anyone can take away from you.

And as I said: people here are usually relaxed and forgiving, despite some appearances to the contrary. I have had my share of bitterness and fights with people who today are some of my best virtual friends --- and with one of them it was even dislike at first sight that eventually turned into solid friendship.

I have always thought, based on my own personality, that those who are the quickest-tempered trespassers are also the quickest to regret their impulsive behavior and to forget-and-forgive their trespassers --- and GMG has proved me right time and again.

Y'all could have just left it at the fact that you're using the terms "John" and "Andrei".  ;D

Just to let you guys know, @Symphonic Addict mentioned that he will not return to GMG. He revealed this to me in a PM on another forum that I frequent. He didn't give a reason to why he felt this way.

I'm very sorry  he decided to leave, he was such a valuable member.

Yes, he was incredibly knowledgable about so much repertoire that, quite frankly, I didn't even know existed. I also love his enthusiasm. We need more of that around here. A shame he made this decision. Hopefully, he'll return at some point.

As Hebrews in ancient times tended to express themselves: Amen.

I'm very sad to hear this.

Yes, me too. I had many nice dealings with Cesar and will miss him.

I do hope our @Luke is doing well and is finding some comfort in his family. I can't imagine what he's going through, but my heart is with him.

As I mentioned, @Luke if you ever need someone to lend an ear to or need some help with something else, don't hesitate to ask --- I'll help you with what I can.
