Okay, it will depend on various factors falling into place, so it may not be impossible after all!  Thank you!   8)

Meeting over! those who attended had fun. Would love to see more of you next time - perhaps a couple of months from now!

Great to see everyone who attended for a more in-depth chat this time around.

Yes. Oh, another factor in the orchestra rehearsals which I've only just now remembered: it was a February concert and the band had lost two of their weekly rehearsals due to snow, so the conductor must have felt awfully constrained time-wise.

Yes, it was fun to meet up in 'real time'.
Thanks again Larry - not only did I enjoy today's discussion, but I now have an in-depth knowledge of your Vaughan Williams symphonies CD collection  ;D

Jeffrey will be pleased that I spent the afternoon listening to the 2-CD VW set with 4, 5, 6, Tallis, and the Oboe Concerto. All great works and great performances. The one piece I couldn't stand was the Oboe Concerto - the sort of cows and sheep grazing in the meadow pastoral thing that has given ol' Rafe a bad name.

That's a great set Larry. The other EMI/Warner double album that I'd strongly recommend is below:

As an ex-oboist ( those X-Oboes are really hard to hang onto, btw  ;D  ), I must beg to differ ( while respecting your opinion nonetheless ). Pastoral imagery is hardly a crime, and fans of RVW come to expect it in his works where appropriate.

There is no more " pastoral " an instrument than the oboe.

Also, while the EMI performance is certainly worthy, there are other options which might appeal to folks more. Personally, Celia Nicklin with Marriner and the ASMF on Decca/Argo has been my preference for decades.

Well, as you can guess by my absence, absolutely nothing fell into place!

Besides loading and unloading c. 1000 pounds of new flooring, we had 6 workmen scattered throughout the house doing various jobs, while I was told that I had 3 hours or less to paint one of the bedrooms!

In spite of my tendency to be a meticulous perfectionist, I accomplished that, and then it turned out that the rush job was not necessary after all, because of a mis-communication.

The only good thing is that, according to our contractor, the job "might" be done by next Thursday.

Up until then, we are inhabiting only two rooms of the house, although the bathroom - the first area which we remodeled - is also open for business.    ;)   Microwave meals only!   ;D

I got around two hours' sleep Monday night. While I actually was awake at the appointed time, I felt like crap and would probably have logged out soon, having contributed very little.

Hopefully I'll be in better shape next time.
