One of my favourite albums by Paul O'Dette! :)

It was issued back in 1987 (Nonesuch) and I only discovered it streaming, since it has been long out of print. Hard to find on disc for a reasonable price on this side of the pond. I ordered this new (after 38 years!) from Amazon US, which collects the EU VAT with the order so no import hassle.

And of me too!

I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

A Dutch organ this time, and quite a change from the Gabler in Weingarten.  :)

Put together all the trio sonatas into one easy playlist on Qobuz, drawing from four of Tillmanns albums.

Florestan

I was kind of disappointed by the first two discs, so I decided to try it backwards: discs 13, 12, 11. I must say I liked them much better.

TBH, in the last 72 hours my Francophilia skyrocketed, from reasons completely extra-musical. I'd rather be wrong with Voltaire than right with George Simion...  ;D

(please bear with me, messieurs moderateurs, the situation in Romania is really stressful, so allow me some venting...)

Spotted Horses

I overindulged this morning. Weinberg String Quartet No 1, 5.

The first quartet, in C major, defied the associations with the key signature. Tense music, an early work that was revised late in Weinberg's life. No 5 a bit more open and confident. Both enjoyed.

Lutyens Music for Piano and Orchestra. Wallen Piano Concerto.

Neither of these made a strong impression. The Lutyens went over my head. Atonal plunking. Serial music is fine, but I don't get on with music which has no discernible rhythm. The Wallen was attractive, but too pleasant.

Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.
