I like Enrique Batiz! Especially I like the recordings below.

Der lächelnde Schatten

Re: Enrique Bátiz --- I was terribly saddened to learn of his passing in late March of this year. In his memory, I played his recording of Revueltas' La noche de los mayas. He did a lot for Spanish and Latin American music.

Symphonic Addict

Ropartz: Symphony No. 4

Beautiful and knightly in spirit. The sort of pieces that doesn't need striking memorable melodic material to make an impression. Its charm lies on the eloquent atmosphere it conjures up, just like the sensuous harmonic language.

The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL!

Der lächelnde Schatten

Now playing Stravinsky Le sacre du printemps

I didn't know about his death. He did many recordings of Spanish and Latin American composers. His contribution is very significant. I will revisit the ASV recording.

Very nice, indeed. I bought this Brilliant Classics set in 2008 and it was my introduction to Mexican classical music:

Such a fantastic set.

Symphonic Addict

Lyatoshynsky: Symphony No. 5 'Slavonic'

Now streaming via Presto Music --- William Grant Still Wood Notes

I own around three or four recordings of Still's orchestral works on Naxos, but I didn't feel like hunting them down, so it's easier to stream them (for now). Of all of the African-American classical composers, he's one of my favorites. I also like William Dawson.

Der lächelnde Schatten

Now playing Szymanowski Fantasy, Op. 14

Der lächelnde Schatten

Now playing Adams Lollapalooza

Such a fun piece!

Benedict Anton Aufschnaiter (1665-1742)
Dulcis Fidium Harmonia op.4, ("Symphoniis ecclesiasticis concinnata.
Ars Antiqua Austria, Gunar Letzbor.
Recorded: l'église St. Maria della Madonna ad Nives, Montemagno, 2002.

Aufschnaiter's  Opus 4, are in fact church sonatas. A four-piece ensemble, reinforced by organ and archlute they create sensitive and quiet performances, aided by a good recording. This said, the music is pleasant but it will not blow your socks off. Friendly, congenial, approachable and can be a played as background entertainment as well as taking centre place. Either choice will give enough satisfaction.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Albert Lortzing (1801–1851).
Overtures, Concert Pieces, Ballet Music.
Marc Gruber Horn & Philipp Baader, Trumpet.
WDR Funkhausorchester, Ernst Theis.

A composer not often recorded or performed. Very accessible music, with lots of frills and plenty of compositorial bubbles. Theis is a very experienced conductor in this genre, and gets therefore all the details out of this performance. For those that like somewhat lighter music, this would fill the bill. The recording is good.
