Did we ever find out if Some Guy is OK?

All I can say is that he did not reply to an email I sent to an address he shared with me before he left GMG.

Todd has been away for 7½ month by now.

Too long. I was just wondering the other day if something happened to him.

He had announced a few days ago that he'd take a break from classical music for a while. My guess is the while will not be long.

He announced he was taking a break from classical music until winter after he couldn't change his avatar here, then he came back within hours.

He's posting today on another classical forum so he doesn't seem to taking a break from classical music. It may be he's gone because he's miffed over not being able to change the avatar, or annoyed by the forum's recent technical dysfunctions.

As someone who doesn't even use an avatar, I don't get what the deal is. It doesn't seem worthy of deleting an account over.

Madiel

It never IS worth it. It's silly behaviour.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

Todd had put a lot of time here in defending the infallible genius of Elon Musk. His absence coincides with Musk becoming Trump's stage-bouncing yes-man.

I'd also wonder if Musk's chainsaw-cuts had a knock-on effect to Todd's business or client base. Effecting him personally would be the true (only?) crisis of faith.

His last post was the day after US Election Day and referred to Trump. I don't know if he was a Trump supporter but there was a lot of mocking of "libs" for "Trump derangement syndrome." I can't help but imagine that he's decamped because the chickens have come home to roost.

Yes. You will see his posts above on this thread and elsewhere labeled "guest."

Der Schattenmann

I know this will sound incredibly stupid to some of you, but I deleted my account just so I can have an avatar. I found it so frustrating that I couldn't upload one in my old account that it was starting to bum me out.

Der Schattenmann

Well, it turns out that I can't upload an avatar for this account either. Sigh...

Its not just one image from one source that it doesn't like? You've tried a variety?

Perhaps he's now far too occupied with making America great again. One imagines there's simply no time left for music. A shame, really; he used to inject a dash of life into this otherwise rather soporific kingdom, where most people go round in circles listening to the same things on repeat. He had that uncanny knack for noticing something mildly curious, at which point everyone else would immediately declare it utterly fascinating. Oddly enough, I suspect he'll resurface before long.
